  • Cream Filled Strawberry Brownie Cake

This is a guest post from CakeSpy.

Image: Pillsbury Bake-OffCakeSpy Note: I am beyond ecstatic to announce that I have been invited as a media guest to the 45th Annual Pillsbury Bake-Off in Orlando, Florida! The event will take place in late March; til then, I am going to feature several of the sweets finalists here in anticipation of the big day!

Doris Wallace of Des Arc, Arkansas, is certainly a lady I'd like to meet. Why? Because she's the inventor of the lovely, amazing, and totally magical thing called "Cream Filled Strawberry Brownie Cake". In her words, "Fudgy brownie meets strawberry cake in a layered extravaganza!". More Here...

  • Wholly Cow Burgers in Austin

A solid day in Austin,TX was all I had. I checked out of my hotel room at the Sheraton around 12pm, left my luggae in hotel storage, and headed towards downtown for lunch. I walked around and browsed different menus. I stumbled upon Wholly Cow Burgers on Congress and 7th Street. “Local Grass-Fed Beef” called my name. I opened the door to find a line of 50 people long. The extended line might discourage some customers, but I stood my ground. Patience makes a good meal better. More Here...

  • Lazy days and Chicken Noodle Soup

It's been a pretty boring weekend thus far. The only thing constant and active has been the cold.

Jon and I decided to conquer a chicken noodle soup recipe together. Maybe it seemed so scary because it's a classic dish that I grew up with my mammie (grandmother) making and grandmas are always culinary geniuses.  Really there was nothing to it. It's basically just a waiting game.

This is what we saw when we stared into the pot for 8 hours! More Here...

  • Honey & Butter-Glazed Pretzel Bites With Roasted Garlic

This is a guest post by Feast On The Cheap

Mariel here. Every morning, I head out onto the mean streets of NYC and pound it out on the pavement for a full hour. Rain or shine, snow or wind, this daily jog helps clear my head and de-stress my perpetually anxious soul before hunkering down for an honest day’s work. It also has the added benefit of pre-paying penance for any lusty treats I may indulge in later. Unfortunately, my morning route takes me past a number of street vendors who sling crusty hot pretzels, hot dogs and coffee. Believe it or not, I want all of these things at 8 in the morning.

You can’t live in New York City without enduring the perpetual pretzel assault, but I rarely give into this particular temptation. The reasons aren’t caloric, they’re primarily germaphobic. Those street carts look grimy, they’re set up alongside busy intersections with idling cars that toot out all kinds of debris. And where on earth do street vendors go to use the bathroom? Surely they can’t abscond and leave their carts unattended. Just sayin’.More Here...

  • Easy Cooking With Chicken Pot Pie

Food memories from college are never forgotten. After the first day in the dining hall, every trip after was horrible, except riblet nights on Wednesdays. For two years I committed myself to the burger diet. The vegetables were watered down and uncooked. The meats were questionable, and the grilled cheese over greased. No sane person can live on burgers alone, and occasional visits to the salad bar, but I survived campus dining. More Here...

  • Fried Bacon Eggs

This is a guest post by Kirbie's Cravings

I thought I’d share this savory dish as a possible choice for your loved one. Soft boiled egg covered in a crispy bacon breadcrumb. Yummy.

This is one of FH’s favorites. I’ve made it before, but it’s been a long time since I’ve revisited this recipe. He likes the egg yolk more runny but I accidentally cooked these slightly too long.

These don’t take too long to make though you do need some patience peeling the soft boiled eggs. These are perfect for a breakfast treat for your loved one any day of the year.More Here...
