  • Massage Your Kale

I love kale.  This is no secret.

And why not?  It's healthy, versatile, and delicious.  So learning about different ways to use it is always a treat.  For Christmas dinner, my dad made a salad of kale mixed with butter leaf lettuce and introduced me to one more way to prepare kale:

    Massaging it.

He did this with a little bit of oil and salt, tearing the leaves off the stem and then rolling it between his hands for five minutes.  The result?  A slick, shiny incarnation of kale - without the bitterness that usually accompanies plain ol' kale.

A quick googling lead me to realize that this is no secret.  Massaging kale breaks down the cellulose and actually changes the taste and texture.  The best part?  It's a quick and simple trick that opens up a world of possibilities for the kale lover.

How do you like to eat kale?
