I like to think about summer treats during the winter.
I think it's my inner-Californian clawing her way out and craving warmer weather while it gets colder here in New York. And why not? Summer snacks are reminders of sunny days and long vacations!
Shave ice is one of those things that I grew up with. My dad and I would always go to Teri Hawaii
, get shave ice, and sit on the curb eating our treats until it melted into a slush and stained our tongues.
But by far, the best shave ice I've ever had was in Hawaii, which stands to reason. Shimazu's
shave ice is sweet, soft, and the best on hot, humid days. Their cones are also gigantic!
There are tons of different flavors, but my favorite's always been the rainbow kind. Visit the Shimazu Store
at their Yelp page
