Is Food Porn Making Us Fat?

I'm not going to lie, sometimes I like to go through pages of Food Gawker and Pinterest to look at the beautiful pictures of foods I'm not eating. But could that be making me fat? According to Dr.Oz, yes.
Recently, in Dr. Oz's food porn segment, the TV personality revealed, "Like the sexual kind of pornography, food porn whets your appetite in ways you have never imagined, allowing you to lust after the orgasm of the perfect bite." In the episode, Dr.Oz suggests that visuals or food and TV shows (like "MasterChef" and "Top Chef") makes a person created a "food porn fantasy" similar to when individuals recreate a sexual scene from pornography.
On the episode, Dr. Oz invited three respected food personalities -- Joe Bastianich, Gail Simmons and Amanda Simpson of Food Porn Daily -- on the show to discuss whether or not food porn is making us fat. Simpson countered Dr.Oz's assertion by revealing that she lost 110 pounds through diet and exercise while maintaining the Food Porn website and writing a cookbook. And that's when Dr.Oz introduced Mona, a woman he believed was a "victim of food porn" as she claims to be addicted to food TV and blogs and allegedly gained 20 pounds in two years. It's important to note that she also recently opened up her own cupcake business.
I can understand the psychology that perhaps these blogs and shows make us hungrier or crave certain foods, but I don't think food porn can be blamed for weight gain. In my opinion, it comes down to will power. If you are so easily swayed from images and TV that you can't control how much or what you eat, then odds are you also can't resist temptation in the kitchen or at a grocery store.
What do you think? Is Dr.Oz right or out of line?

Food porn will make you fat as much as regular porn will get you laid.
Well clearly it's food porn's fault because we need someone else to blame. Surely you can't expect us to take responsibility for our own actions
Yes, b/c you have to eat everything you see that looks good.
yes. Yes it is.
I don't know... there should be studies cited for him to conclusively say what he says... otherwise, its all opinion and we can always rebut it... for me food porn does make me want to crave for food, but somehow it also makes me full :D hahahaha
I have a hard time taking anything a television doctor says seriously. And I think Dr. Oz is a dumbass, right up there with Dr. Phil.
Food porn makes people fat the same way a 3D porno makes women pregnant. It doesn't happen unless you're actually going out and eating all the food you've just stared at.
I can *perhaps* see his point, but I don't agree with it.
A few months ago, I had been fasting (for religious purposes), and for a few days I fell into the horrible habit of reading Yelp reviews for some of the best restaurants in my area (which included going through the pictures Yelpers posted of the foods that they ordered). Even though I wouldn't be physically hungry, for some time my mind almost lusted for the food, or that cupcake. However, afterwards, when I would go and visit those places and restaurants and eat that which I had begun to crave, I realized one really important thing: food will never taste as amazing and mind-blowing as you will imagine it will taste.
Food is great, and yes I said that above statement as a foodie myself. But like pornography, you often create an unreal image in your mind and the excess of it will leave you with expectations that won't be fulfilled in real life--which leads to disappointment. I believe the same goes with food.
But is it the food porn making you fat? No. It is one's lack of restraint.
Yeah, because we're not at all responsible for what we put in our mouths.
I stopped when you said Dr. Oz. That guy doesn't know jack about nutrition. I think you should if you're going to talk about it on TV.
I love food pictures. The actual food is always a disappointment
I would think looking at good food would make you interested in cooking and working with a variety of beautiful, fresh, and whole ingredients...which in the end should result in better health. :)
i couldn't help it i just ordered food for delivery after i read this... i must be strange but i actually feel good about myself because its buy one get one :))
Being fat makes you appreciate food porn lol
Food porn makes me hungry for everything
images of food will not make you fat. overeating will make you gain weight, as will a [legitimate] medical condition. in my opinion, anything dr. oz says is bs... that man annoys me immensely.
no. eatting food makes me fat
yes dr.oz IS out of line. i'm a foodie and i LOVE food porn and yet im not fat. it's all personal will power. plain and simple.
