Are You Eating Cupcakes Incorrectly?

I've never thought about how I eat a cupcake, until now. I usually bite into a cupcake from the side, but turns out there's a better way to eat a cupcake.
I first saw the "right" way to eat a cupcake on BuzzFeed and I have to ask myself: Why did I never consider this before? But upon doing a little digging, I found that LOST alumni Jorge Garcia was the first to show the exact process of eating a cupcake properly on his personal blog--he even included step-by-step photos.
Take a look at his step by step tutorial (circa 2010) including his instructions.
1. You start with the cup cake.
2. First you peel away the paper. (Trust me it gets better.)
3. Then tear off the bottom portion of the cupcake.
4.Place the torn-off portion on top where the frosting is.
5. Give it a little squeeze.
6. And there you have it. Eat it like a cream-filled cake sandwich.
Realistically speaking, I can't imagine going through all that work for a cupcake. Not to mention that the process is a little messy. That said, I do think the icing-cake ration must be perfect in this process.
How do you eat your cupcakes? Do you think there is a "right" or "wrong" way?

This is exactly how I eat my cupcakes. More delicious this way, and no upper-lip frosting problems... also I don't have to unhinge my jaw to try and bite the whole thing.
I have never ate a cupcake this way. I'll just continue to bite it from the top & get frosting all over my nose. =)
I eat it. WITH MAH MOUTH.
so i'm not wierd (at least in this area anyways). :)
I scrape .5 -.75 of the frosting off pitch it and then eat it (only after tasting the frosting to ensure that it isn't too sweet, too buttery, too artificially flavored, etc). I may try this way, but I would still probably remove most of the frosting.
The correct way to eat a cupcake- With my mouth.
Apparently that person doesn't spend enough time eating cupcakes! I don't feel there is a wrong or right way to eat cupcakes as long as the diner enjoys his/her cupcake. Personally, I prefer much less frosting on mine, no more than 1/3 of the height of the actual cake part. I take off the wrapper, take the bottom off and eat that first then the rest of the top with frosting. Or, if I want to be extra fussy, I will unwrap it and put it on a plate to eat with a fork.
No thanks, I like my way: with a fork if I can, and frosting first then cake itself. This ice cream sandwich way farts out all the frosting to the side when you bite down :\ that is a pet peeve of mine
Hmm. I never ate a cupcake that way before.
Mostly I remove the wrapper...which is the first thing I do. Pray the icing is just right. (Not too thick, sweet, and creamy.) The I manage to eat the icing part, and then I eat the cake part.
I might have to try that next time I eat a cupcake...
ahh no. i like to preserve the frosting's shape as much as possible.
There is no wrong way to eat anything, really.
In the end, if you're still alive, then you've survived. That's all that should really matter, you know.weird...
I break off the bottom part, eat it, and then eat the top. Save the best part for last :)
The only wrong way to eat a cupcake is to try to eat it with your ear or something. As long as that cupcake is going in your mouth, it's all good. Me, I like to attack the frosted part first. Then I eat the rest. And the entire process takes me about seven seconds.
Now, THAT is how one eats a cupcake. Like it's the last one you'll ever eat.
I eat the bottom part first, then the top :D
There is no such thing as eating a cupcake wrong!
Insert into mouth: score!
I think the biggest issue is that most cupcakes in america are MADE WRONG. There should be no muffin-topping on a cupcake. *sigh* amateurs..
I like just biting into it. Sure, you may get frosting on your nose but you get to savor the flavor and have fun at the same time.
I've never known how to eat a cupcake. This is life-changing information right here.
I always can't believe how many people are so sensitive to the sweetness of icing. I love it! The more, the better for me. If there's a lot, I'll lick some of it off the top and then just take bites out of the cupcake. If there's not a lot of icing, I'll just eat it 'normally' lol just bite into it bit by bit.
If it's small enough, I just take it in 1 whooooole bite
What a good idea :O
There is no correct way to eat a cupcake. Every person enjoys cupcakes differently. :)
@xDark_horizonx@xanga - Muffin topping? There should be no topping on muffins. That's just plain weird. Cupcakes are miniature cupcakes, hence toppings.
@LeviStyles@xanga - muffin top is when the rising cupcake spills out over the top of the mold. I'm not sure if you meant "cupcakes are miniature muffins" not "cupcakes are miniature cupcakes". But you have to imagine as if you baked a cupcake in a cup (as it should be, and is traditionally baked), there would be no spill over. The spill over is a side effect of too much batter in the molds most people use today. Go somewhere with a real professional standard and you'll understand.
meh, i've seen this idea before. regardless, i will try it.
