The "Food Network Star" season finale aired on Sunday at 9pm, but I won't catch it until Thursday...
In 1997 The Food Network was acquired by
Scripps Networks Interactive, the American media company that now owns
HGTV,
DIY Network,
Cooking Channel,
Travel Channel and
Great American Country (GAC). I love vegging out on all of these networks, but while I find them inspiring, I don’t usually go do the things they’re teaching. Therefore, the accessibility of the tv programs themselves is more important to me than the information they provide.
However, I must be in the minority because when you go to the websites for these networks, all you get are a few recipes, profiles on the people who star in the shows and, most frustrating of all, a written synopsis or most episodes rather than a full video. Maybe, maybe you’ll get a couple clips or a few grainy episodes, but they fail to consistently upload full video content of their programs.
I guess Scripps doesn’t understand that I officially have 0 friends my age who own television sets. We are their future audience, and we watch our favorite shows on our laptops via Hulu or Netflix. I'm so accustomed to watching tv at times convenient to my own schedule that its crazy to think anyone forces themselves to watch something at a designated day and time each week!
So, when I was finally able to get excited about watching
“Food Network Star” on Hulu I assumed I’d also be able to vote on for this season's winner along with the people in cable-land.
WRONG. Food Network aired the
Pilot Green Light episode on Sunday at 9pm. Voting opened at 10pm after the show and closed on Thursday. Thursday, the day they finally posted the episode to Hulu! I had become very invested in the “Rebel with a Culinary Cause”
Justin Warner this season, but was crestfallen to realize that most of his fans, like me, probably watch the show online.
“I want to cook for
my generation” Justin stated in his pilot. Well, I hope the cable viewers give him enough votes to win, and that my Rebel can convince Bob Tuschman and Susie Fogelson to at least post
his show to Hulu every week.
Do you actually pick up the phone and vote when watching live competition shows?

It's been a while since I've watched a live competition show on TV, but even if I did I am unlikely to call/text to vote. I don't have time to be watching the show during the actual time in which it is live!
I don't vote and I don't watch these shows. I can't stand them, to be honest.
I've watched The Next Food Network Star when Aarti was voted as a Food Network Star and that was probably the only season I ever watched. I did watch the season finale for this year's Food Network Star show though.
I'm not a huge fan of reality shows, so I don't vote at all.
LOVE JUSTIN! Was so happy he won! He brings a whole new concept to the FNC... All the other finalists just brought the same ol' same ol'.... WAHOO! Go Justin!

@G1G1626@healthkicker - SPOILER ALERT! I WAS GONNA FIND OUT TONIGHT D: I wanted Justin to win.... BUT SPOILER ALERT
@G1G1626@healthkicker - I agree completely! I love Alton Brown, and I feel like Justin definitely could actually be his son. I'm so relieved that people voted for him!
P.S. I don't normally get this obsessed with reality tv, but when you combine food with awesome quirky people, I just can't be helped :P
