Daily Question: What Are Your Favorite Care Package Foods?
Help! I’ve been living in Brooklyn, NY for the past two months and miss my family’s home cookin’ like crazy!
They live all the way across the country in Oregon and I’m not sure what kind of homemade foods will ship that distance and still taste great upon arrival. What items do you like to send off to homesick friends and family? I know cookie tins are always an easy option, but are there certain cookies that work better than others? What about any savory food ideas?

Anything preservable. I really like Asian dried, shredded sweet pork with glutinous rice... my mom used to make them for my siblings and i, rolling the mixture together into bite sized wads.
But realistically, I'd like to send my brother who's a Marine in Japan some of his favorite American snacks..like Oreo.. and Doritos.
@BlehhItsTu@xanga - Oh man, there are so many yummy commercial foods I would miss if I were your brother! That sounds like a great option for his care package!
Coffee.
@boxedwine said it. Coffee can be easily shipped. Just wrap it well.
Food is critical, especially in summer.
Coffee people
A small jar of almond butter. Great for making snacks and sandwiches. Yum!
I usually send snacks, comfort food, or tea. Those usually make people smile.
i love to send my hubby cakes baked in a mason jar! he loves it! i just send along a little can of icing with it :)
@day_of_the_dead@xanga - So creative! My little sister makes a chocolate fudge cake that is to die for, I'll see if she can make it in a jar!
