How I Like My Avocado
I am known for slicing open an avocado, removing the pit, and going at it with a spoon. Not only do I do this for a snack, but any meal might include avocado as a fuss free guest. Just yesterday morning I ate half of an avocado spooned right out of the shell for breakfast. It is coincidental that Kirbie's Cravings just posted about Avocado Egg Cups, because I had been thinking about writing on avocado for a week now. It would appear that there are others who fancy the avocado.

I love how healthy avocado is, and I feel the best on days when I eat it. I usually eat avocado as mentioned above, but every now and then I deviate and try to spruce it up and throw something else into the mix. Sometimes I…
Drizzle some extra virgin olive oil on it and a sprinkling of sea salt, and maybe some lime juice
I never understood the fat-on-fat thing until I tried it. The avocado is creamy and the oil is, well, oily, and somehow it works perfectly together. Add a little salt to the mix and it’s even tastier. This actually looks very pretty if you plate it properly.

Dice it up and throw it into salad
A popular option, as it brightens up any salad dish and lends a satisfying creaminess to an otherwise bland salad consisting of all roughage.

Make guacamole
I like mine extra spicy, and hold the tomatoes! I don’t usually use a recipe, but I have tried this one before and liked it. I always eat guacamole with raw vegetables and steak or chicken for dipping.

Blend up an Avocado Milkshake
I blend avocado, ice, vanilla extract, and milk in a blender. It sounds strange, but it is delicious, I promise! Sometimes I transfer the mixture to Popsicle trays for a healthy alternative to a summer treat. If you would like it even sweeter, add some honey or raw agave nectar.

Cover it in Cholula
Am I strange for doing this? I love making anything spicy, and Cholula is the perfect way to do just that. I could drink this stuff.

Have you tried any of these avocado ideas? What do you do with your avocado?

I sometimes use it as a substitute for butter and spread on my toast or bagel or mix it with my rice with a little salt and other spices sprinkled over it. But I mainly love it as guacamole especially the way it's made at Chipotle.
1. Halve it, sprinkle with salt and spoon into my mouth. Learned this from my grandpa!
2. Roughly smashed and seasoned, spread on bread or warm corn tortilla.3. Sliced up in a turkey sandwich or BLT.4. Served with an omelet, especially one with sauteed veggies and cheese.5. Guacamole with the works: chile, onion, tomato, cilantro and lime. (Served with Mexican food or just tortilla chips.)I've also had it on salads, and in "eggrolls" at BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse.
I usually make guacamole with mine.
This is awesome, I'm always looking for new ways to spruce up a healthy snack like this.
I'm IN LOVE with the popsicle tray smoothie idea. Brilliant!
brush it with a little soy sauce, and a dash of pepper... !
Avocado, condensed milk, ice, and a little milk! If you don't want something like a smoothie, don't put any ice and add extra milk and you can make avocado milk as well. Mmmm. So delicious.
put it in my sushi :)
I like mushing it up with some salad dressing and eating it on bread.
You've got me craving them now. I usually just cut it in halves or quarters and salt it.
I eat avocado sliced on top of my eggs/omelets/scrambles practically every single morning, and I am a huge fan of the avo smoothie, avo with salt, avo with Cholula or Tapatío, avo on "protein style" sandwiches (lettuce boats w/all the fixings of a sandwich or taco). I'll also eat it plain, and I could eat guacamole for every meal.
Avocados sure do dress up a salad. And I love making guacamole and garden fresh hot sauce to go with a burrito feast.
I’ll eat avocado on whole grain toast with a little bit of garlic powder when I need a fast lunch. If I have time, I’ll use some avocado slices to dress up a burger or grilled cheese sandwich.
Also, I had forgotten one thing I like to do with Avocado. I like substituting Avocado for shortening in cookie and cake recipes. It's healthier and it still tastes wonderful.
Avocado juice! Some stalls in Indonesia that I've been to even drizzle a little bit of chocolate sauce on top of the juice :)
Your milkshake sounds interesting - and the fact that it can double as a frozen treat? Bonus! Could you share the recipe you follow (or even approximate measurements) of each ingredient? Thank you!!!!
What's cholula? I am going to try the egg cups and the milkshake, definitely.
I mash them up and put them on stews and chili, mostly. Or I slice them and eat them with a little salt sprinkled on. I want an avocado tree in my backyard.
I like to mash and put them on my whole-grain toast.

I've been doing the "Avocado Egg Cups" for years. I like to add a little ground/cooked bison meat to mine, I usually put that on the bottom before I add in the egg. My vegetarian friend adds chopped pine nuts to hers, it's actually pretty tasty.
Another fav. way to eat avocado is to just add a little good quality balsamic..mmm that makes my mouth water.
I work at Chipotle and LOOOOVE making the Guacamole. I have this whole other love for Avocado that I didnt have before. I cant seem to eat enough of it!
@WaitingToShrug@xanga - click on the link within the post where I mention it =] its the best hot sauce ever.
@squishy_fluffy_munchkin@xanga - That sounds wonderful!
@spamandrice@xanga - I will have to try that.
@specialxplaces@xanga - Glad you're inspired
@WhiteHotKM@xanga - http://www.food.com/recipe/avocado-milkshake-104825 I do not add the sugar because I am a health nut, but as I said above, you can add honey or agave nectar if you like it sweet, or just add the sugar like in the recipe. Enjoy!
thank you for this because i have been wanting to try avocado for a while now. i just don't know what to eat it with, well until now haha. hopefully i like it because it's healthy.
