Mixed Berry, Banana, and Yogurt Smoothie
This is a guest post from For The Love of Cooking.
It was 80 degrees here in Portland today – can you believe it? After all the rain we’ve been having it was wonderful to have a warm and sunny day! I made these smoothies for my kids’ after school snack. It was a great way to use up the bananas that were extra ripe. It was also a super healthy treat and it cooled my hot kids right down. A delicious smoothie always tastes good after a long day of school! The kids happily gobbled down their drinks before we headed to the creek to play in the mud. Good times!
Place the strawberries, bananas, frozen mixed berries, ice, honey, and yogurt into a large container. Blend the mixture using an immersion blender until creamy and smooth. Serve with a strawberry garnish and a straw. Enjoy! If you don’t have an immersion blender a regular blender or food processor would work great too.

Ah yes, the ever refreshing smoothie.
looks delicious!
Awesome, it's already perfect smoothie weather.
I love smoothies...
yumm
this looks yummy!
Do you dare to almost go overboard? I also put in frozen peaches, pineapple, fresh pear, apple and dark cherries (home frozen last summer), dark skinned grapes, Greek yogurt containing probiotic bacteria, a couple scoops of vanilla whey protein, somewhere around a tablespoonful of flaxseed and almond milk to make milkshake consistency.
When I first started about 5 years ago, I used vanilla instant breakfast powder but the label showed ingredients I wanted to eliminate so I switched to the whey powder. I also dry what little membrane I can salvage from the inside of egg shells and give some a whir with some almond milk at the very beginning. It's supposed to be good for cartilage and joint health and at 75, I want whatever is beneficial there. I concentrate on dark-skinned fruits for the resveretrol content. The pineapple has enzymes and there's pectin in the apple peel. The only problem is remembering to sip instead of inhaling it!
yumm i make banana yogurt smoothies with just yogurt, ice, bananas & coconut milk.. never thought to use honey! def going to try this one out!
