  • My Favorite Pastry Blogs

I often spend too much time sifting through cookbooks, magazines, and blogs when I need a little sweet inspiration. Whenever I cook or bake anything I will review dozens of recipes before beginning. The process of recipe hunting is often more enjoyable then actually cooking or baking. My notebook is full of inspiration for things I have yet to make. I've been working on my own blog for the past few months and have lately found myself referring to these two blogs (which are much better then mine) when I need a push to get up and get blogging. They are unique, creative, inspiring, and completely blow my mind (and I want to be their friend).

    Brave Tart

This blog is the love child of pastry chef at Table 310, Stella Parks, and photographers Stephen Weber and Sarah Jane Sanders. Here they document the details of the various sweet treats Stella dreams up for the dessert menu at the restaurant. She makes everything from scratch from sprinkles to corn syrup and also has a weekly post on Serious Eats where she reinvents classics like homemade Butterfingers and Peanut Butter Cups. Stella was also recently named one of the Best New Pastry Chefs in 2012 by Food and Wine magazine. I'm eagerly awaiting the May issue which will be featuring her.

    Sweetapolita

Sweetapolita is where Rosie Alyea brings together her love of baking and photography. The blog is bubbling with beautiful photographs and detailed recipes of her breathtaking creations. She is a master of fondant and it's very inspiring to see what she can do with sugar. The descriptions are so detailed and easy to read that you start to believe you can make asparagus or paint brushes out of fondant too. Fondant has always intimidated me but this blog encourages me to finally give it a go.
