Sarkozy Visits a Cheese Factory
Could you ever ban cheese from your diet? I could never do such a thing. It would be a sad day if cheese was not found in my house.
According to the
Huffington Post, the French President Sarkozy "
has banned cheese from the menu at the Elysee Palace." Apparently he follows a strict diet and there is no room for cheese in his life.
Cheese is one of the most wonderful foods in the world. I understand the need for a healthy diet, but to completely eliminate cheese is a catastrophe.
The extreme diets individuals embark on seem a little outrageous. I have never been a person to completely eliminate a particular food or drink. I believe that when approaching with a moderate view there is little that can be detrimental to your health. But I understand if a person is forced to erase a food or drink from their life due to lack of self-control. Why cheese? I can see dumping other foods, but never cheese.
Sharp cheddar, mozzarella, blue, provolone, asiago, parmesan, and the plethora of cheeses bring joy into my life. I don't have the self-restraint to say good bye to cheese like the French President.
Cheese is a must have ingredient to my life and I don't know how Sarkozy lives without it.
What do you think about the French President's diet?

Sounds about right.
It's his choice. If I had to ban cheese, I could. There are other good foods besides cheese. I seriously thought this was going to read he bans cheese from other people's house or cheese imported from other countries or something conversation worthy.
Um...since when does "I'm going on a diet" equate with "banning cheese"? Misleading.
He can choose to not eat whatever he wants. It's none of my concern.
cheese isn't nutrient dense. all this talk about how much calcium it has is to just cover how much fat it really has. cheese should be use sparingly but in today's society it's a topping that's being used way too much (i.e. salad). if the president wants to eat really clean, i support him by banning cheese from his diet.
That's a little extreme. I couldn't say bye to cheese either since I love cheese.
Cheese is really fattening, as my parents constantly tell me. They don't eat much of it and when I'm home it is out of my diet.
I hate cheese so I'd be totally cool with never eating it. However, given that cheese is part of France's fame, this is a little surprising.
The French President banning cheese is like the American President spitting on an apple pie.
But he's French!
He can do what he wants. Why should anyone else even be interested in whether he eats cheese or not?
Um, yeah. I could. In fact, I have banned cheese from my diet. And boy, do I love the gorgonzola.
I also happen to think that "everything in moderation" is a little silly.
@WaitingToShrug@xanga - it is a little silly, isn't it. It never works out, but I like to try aim for it as my general eating rule.
I totally understand it. Personally, I could not give up cheese! I lack self control with other things, like sweets, but I can just have a couple slices of cheese or a few crumbles of feta and be happy, because it is so rich and salty. My rule: try not to have anything I like too much in the house too often. If I want it, I go out and buy it specifically.
Without cheese, lasagna would just be meat with sauce and flat spaghetti. :( I wouldn't be able to do that...
for a second I believed cheese was forbidden in france. *sighs in relief*
I personally really like cheese, but maybe it isn't so important to him.
