Every once in a while, I'm always craving for ramen especially from Santouka which is located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace (595 River Road Edgewater, NJ 07020).
Although I haven't tried a whole lot of restaurants that serve ramen, I must say Santouka is definitely one of my favorites.
They offer a diverse range of menu items and ramen. The ramen is absolute hearty and heaven and you really have to try it to understand why.
The ramen at Santouka is always served with the following ingredients: bamboo shoots, cha-siu, tree ear mushroom, scallion, ramen, sesame seeds, and a piece of fish cake.
Yesterday, my boyfriend and I made a trip to Mitsuwa and I ordered the Miso ramen. We make it a mission to visit Mitsuwa once a month for the ramen and the shopping experience of course.
I feel the broth always tastes the same, but each sip of it with the noodles is absolute bliss! I don't know what broth they use, but it's so so so good.
This is Santouka's Tonkatsu ramen. Tonkatsu ramen has a cloudy, white colored broth. It has a thick broth made from boiling pork bones, fat, and collagen.
A plate of ingredients are given seperately and they include: cha-siu, bamboo shoots, fish cake, tree ear, and scallion. It's similar to the Miso ramen.
Another ramen that Santouka serves is the Soy Sauce ramen also known as Shoyu ramen. The soy sauce ramen typically has a brown and clear color broth, based on a chicken and vegetable (or sometimes fish or beef) stock with plenty of soy sauce added. The soup becomes tangy, salty, and savory.
The ingredients that usually come with the ramen is bamboo shoots, green onion, seaweed, boiled eggs, and fish cake.
I am absolutely in love with this ramen place because their ramen is just amazingly delicious and you definitely won't regret coming here. Although the line is extremely long, the wait is worth it. Trust me on this!
What's your favorite place to go for a ramen fix?
