We Were Off to Vegas!
Vegas Diner is one of the well-known diners in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Bensonhurst is the neighborhood that I've been living in the past 20 years. I've been on a bit of a diner binge lately. My boyfriend & I have been trying out different diners in Brooklyn, Queens, and New Jersey.
Vegas Diner will always hold a special memory in my heart because it was the FIRST place that my boyfriend & I had our FIRST official date before we actually gave our hearts to each other, and it was on Christmas eve of December 2010. My boyfriend and I still return to Vegas once in a blue moon.
We decided to come to Vegas for our 14th month anniversary. Vegas Diner's decor is warm and welcoming. The waiter/waitresses are very friendly and the food here is just top-notch.
Typically, when we come here for dinner we start off with a bread basket and some complimentary nibbles. I love the way the bread basket looks and that it's simple. We got a few slices of bread and pretzel sticks, and some times they throw in crackers as well. Butter is always accompanied with the bread basket.

We always receive a tray/plate of these little nibbles when we come to this particular diner. There's usually a small plate of chickpeas (my personal favorite), coleslaw, string beans, and beets. I never tried the beet and it just doesn't appeal to me. I usually just eat the chickpeas and a bit of the coleslaw.
When you order an entree, it usually comes with a soup - that is usually: chicken noodle soup and two other soups, a salad, and a dressing of your choice.

My boyfriend and I decided to order a chicken noodle soup. I'm a big lover of chicken noodle soup especially when I'm sick. Any way, chicken noodle soup not only taste good, but it smells good and it's good for you.
Typically two packs of crackers are accompanied with the soup. The chicken noodle soup was definitely hearty, but a little over salted.

I love salads and been finding myself craving salads lately, but the only dressing I like is French. This is a simple garden salad that's composed of: lettuce, tomato, onion, and garlic bread. I detest onions in salads, so that had to go. I really enjoyed the salad because of it's simplicity and it was fresh.

My boyfriend has been on a lemon chicken binge lately and is determined to find the best and try different lemon chicken. It's cute how he's on his own personal mission to finding the best lemon chicken. Any way, they didn't exactly have any thing labeled as "lemon chicken".
Our waiter recommended the chicken with Franchaise sauce ( a lemon butter sauce with white wine) and that it's very good so boyfriend took up on his suggestion.
The chicken with Franchaise sauce was excellent and the chicken was cooked to the right texture, nice and soft. My boyfriend finished a good portion of the dish and was very happy afterwards.

I decided to order the chicken with Scampi over rice. The Scampi sauce was very rich, garlicky, and had a semi-pungent taste to it. The chicken was cooked to the perfect texture, again - nice, soft, and easy to cut with the knife and chew with the mouth.
The rice was yum. I couldn't finish the dish completely, so the rest of it became my lunch for work a few days ago and it sure made my cubicle smell like garlic.
Vegas Diner is definitely one of the better diners I've been to and I have been to quite a few with my boyfriend. I've been here many times for dinner and it's never disappointed me.Do you like going to diners? What's your favorite menu items to order?

Your chicken dish looks yummy! I go to diners every once in a while. I find that it's more about quantity than quality, though, which turns me off. I like Blue Bay Diner in Bayside, Queens.
it really depends what im in the mood for hahah
