Frisco's Best Bakery
To call an establishment my favorite bakery in the world is quite a statement, I know, but believe me, I am not exaggerating. I have been to an obscene number of bakeries throughout my life and this one tops them all. While I do have a favorite American Bakery, French Bakery, etc, Tartine Bakery & Café is my favorite bakery overall. Located in San Fransisco, Tartine offers coffee, breakfast and lunch items, freshly baked bread, and of course baked goods.
During my first and unfortunately my only visit thus far, I sampled about 8 different items with the help of my family. The croissant, morning bun, and chocolate croissant were the best breakfast pastries I have ever had in my life! A hot and frothy cappuccino went perfectly with these treats. Here is the morning bun:
The whole wheat bread was absolutely amazing. It was chewy and hearty on the inside and had the perfect amount of crunch on the outside. Bread like this puts grocery store bread to absolute shame.

The lemon cream tart is, what a surprise, the best lemon tart I have ever had. It might sound ridiculous that I am calling all of these things my favorite, but I stress that I am not exaggerating. I also tried the éclair, lemon meringue cake rectangle, devil’s food cake round, and tres leches cake round. Needless to say everything was to die for. I am considering moving to San Francisco, right around the corner from Tartine, just so I have the option of eating there whenever I please. That my friends, is my dream in life. Pictured below is the lemon cream tart:

Tartine is a small business, and I am all about small businesses, especially in large cities where things tend to get swallowed up by the hustle and bustle of big business and traffic. Small eateries are the gems of a town. They add a unique flair to a busy street. Look for a follow up post in the future about independently owned businesses.

What is your favorite bakery? Do you like supporting small businesses?

My favorite bakery is Porto's in Glendale, CA. But, I don't visit bakeries too often as I love to bake. I think it is important to support small local businesses. These people are your neighbors! Spending your money there is good for the economy of your city.
Wow.. Looks so yum.. If you happen to be in Sydney, OZ, do check this out, Bourke Street bakery. Famous for their Creme brûlée tart. :)
These sound great
I've been there before and I'm drooling just thinking about it. Yum.
