Woman Eats Only Pizza For 31 Years
I often joke that I could eat pizza for life, but in the end of the day, it's just a joke. But for one British woman, it's reality.
According to the Sun, 33-year-old Claire Simmons has been eating pizza since she was two years old, gags if she puts anything else in her mouth and shakes if she is presented with anything other than pizza. To provide her diet and lifestyle with some sort of balance, Simmons drinks lots of water and exercises regularly.
Simmons is believed to suffer from a rare eating disorder called Selective Eating Disorder which is when a person narrows down on a small number of foods and eats those foods exclusively.
Doctors and researchers have found that selective eaters pick preferred foods based on textures and bland tastes as opposed to calorie content (unlike other eating disorders). The health concerns that this disorder brings on are nutritional deficiencies that can lead to bone and heart problems.
What do you think? Is Selective Eating Disorder a real disorder? If you had to live off a food forever, what would it be?

Pizza every day? Gag.
I worked in a pizzeria for a year... after the first couple months, I couldn't stand the thought of eating something that I served other people every day.
I might be able to do it for a year. If I didn't have to eat the same toppings everyday.. but for 31 years.. *vomit*
there was a chef who had this disorder, but all he could eat were biscuits. he'd keep his balance by drinking milk...they did a test on him where when he was presented with other "normal" food, his brain reacted the same as it would when he was presented with batteries...
I suppose the disorder can exist but I could never eat the same food every meal of everyday. I can barely eat the same meal for 3 meals!
Obviously mental
@Still_Bruhaha@xanga - I just ate greasy pizza from Costco and I almost threw up. It was so disgusting. How this woman managed it all these years is amazing but crazy. I hope she is able to change her diet soon.
It could not be Selective Eating Disorder. It could have to do with her genes. There is a woman who only eats french fries and she found out later that it has to do with the way her genes take food.
Wow.
@millionofstars@xanga - I agree! There are so many amazing foods out there and pizza just seems like a last resort food. I couldn't imagine living off of it for that long.
shame on her parents for giving her pizza at 2! should've given her some veggies and healthier food. I love pizza but I love other foods way too much!
@colapseed_xx@xanga - Wait, batteries? So the chef reacted to other foods as if they were a non-edible object? That is interesting that he chose to be a chef.
I ate pizza everyday for 4 years! My disorder was called "college."
Well, there's a lot worse things that she could have eaten. At least pizza has several different food groups present in its makeup.
Also, I wouldn't be so quick to trust anything from Sun Magazine! While they do have real articles in them, they mix them up with really fakey-fake stuff.
mmmmm pizza this made me hungry
This woman reminds me of that girl who has only eaten McDonald's chicken nuggets since she was really little, like 2.
I'm a bit of a picky eater, but I thought I was bad until I read about that girl and this woman. I almost gagged a little.
lol, I wouldn't trust the Sun. It's trash. The worse of the worst when it comes to British journalism.
@colapseed_xx@xanga - strange
I could so do this. I love pizza!
I love pizza, & I could eat it once a week... But everyday? No thanks!
Sometimes people like that have PTSD because their family made them eat stuff or whatever, but selective eating is a real thing, its like the brain trying to protect the body selecting out food.
2 years old? Did I read this right? Where are parents when shit like this is going on? ...it's like the other girl on the chicken nugget diet. That's what is sad to me.
Hey, there's some strange things people do in the world (America included). This is just one of the extreme sides of it. If this is what makes her happy, and she prefers it (while admittedly not that healthy), why should we judge? She probably also takes multi-vitamins.
We go on binges for days or even weeks at a time where sometimes we only crave one kind of food. This woman just did it her whole life. I think it makes for a pretty controversial and cool story (which explains why we're even hearing about it in the first place, if she did it for 6 months no one would probably care or take it seriously because even that's common).
Mmm...I want Pizza Hut now.
I heard of a woman who couldn't eat vegetables, she would only eat cheesy potatoes.. wow
