Pound Cake Sandwich
This is a guest post from CakeSpy.
Here are two facts:
1. Sandwiches are tasty.
2. Pound cake is delicious.
But what about when you combine these toothsome treats in one sweet, dessert-sandwich form?
I think you probably know where I'm going with this. Friends, I'd like to share with you one of my favorite--and incidentally, one of the easiest--recipes I know: the Pound Cake Sandwich.
This is a sandwich that satisfies: two thick slices of pound cake with delicious (pink is best) frosting in the middle--a hefty treat that will fill your belly for breakfast, soothe rumblings at lunch, and will definitely spoil your dinner. Here's how you make it:
Pound Cake Sandwich
Makes one (easily duplicated)
Ingredients
- 2 thick slices of pound cake (plain or a flavor, you choose your own adventure)
- 2-3 tablespoons pink frosting
Procedure
- Place two slices of poundcake side-by-side in a mirror-image direction.
- spread each slice with 1 to 1.5 tablespoons of frosting.
- Sandwich the two frosted sides together.

.... that looks absolutely disgusting, and I tend to adore sugary cakes and cookies.
One pound cake sandwich I actually wanted to try:
two slices of pound cakeseveral sliced strawberries or bananasspoonful of nutella to hold things together
Fry the sides of the pound cake on butter, and voila!
i prefer it with ice cream
I think that's way too sweet for me, but I do love pound cake! and frosting! (just not together) :)
I think I would try frosting on one slice, and peanut butter or Nutella on the other.
I'll make it with ham
I'm glad there were instructions about how to make this, because it looked so complicated. I don't think I could have figured out how to make it on my own.
I love pound cake, but I think the icing would be too much. Maybe a nutty spread? Nutella? Yes?
Fruit or fruit spread works too. Maybe pound cake PB&J, mmm.
. . .
Cute idea, I like it! :)
@colormysky27@xanga - I wish they hadn't included the "plain or a flavor, you choose your own adventure" part though. How am I meant to choose a kind of pound cake? Why didn't they just tell me what kind of pound cake? I wish people wouldn't leave things so ambiguous all the time.
Too sweet for me. I prefer pound cake plain.
I'd like it with some nutella and cinnamon on top :)
Yeah, I'd go with ham and specifically the kind with honey along the trim.*homer simpson drool*
OMG. Amazing. <3
