  • Restaurants I Want to Visit in 2012

I'm a girl who loves trying new food and new restaurants. I also review restaurants and food places on Yelp. One of the great things about Yelp is that there is a section called "Bookmarks" where I can bookmark restaurants to try and I currently have a list of 38 places to try.

This year I really want to be able to try most of the restaurants on my list. These are the top seven restaurants I want to visit this year, no excuses.

Ippudo (65 Fourth Avenue New York, NY 10003) Cuisine: Japanese

Ippudo NY is one of the most well-known Japanese Ramen restaurants and has been featured on Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate".  From what I've heard, they don't take reservations so anyone who wants to eat at Ippudo has no choice, but to wait. I would love to come here to try their authentic ramen.

    L & B Spumoni Gardens (2725 86th St Brooklyn, NY 11223) Cuisine: Italian

L & B is a well-known restaurant in Gravesend/Bensonhurst (the neighborhood I live in) for their delicious pizza. I've been living in Bensonhurst for 23 years and I have not yet had the time to try L & B and in a way I feel as if I'm missing out because I'm from Brooklyn. I hope to try out L & B and the pizza that everyone is talking about.

Shake Shack (409 Fulton St Brooklyn, NY 11201) Cuisine: American

Okay, so I have tried Shake Shack before, but I haven't tried the one that recently opened in Downtown, Brooklyn. For a Shake Shack to be planted in Brooklyn is pretty huge and Downtown Brooklyn is becoming a very hot neighborhood because many food places/restaurants are being built. I work in Downtown Brooklyn and I go to school, so I definitely have to find time to try this Shake Shack's juicy burgers!

Pommes Frites (123 2nd Ave New York, NY 10003) Cuisine: Beligian

Pommes Frites is another well-known food place that was featured in Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate". Pommes Frites is a hole-in-the-wall shop that specializes in Beligian fries. Many of my friends have tried it, but I never got around to trying it and it's been on my list for at least two years since I started Yelping. Hopefully, I'll find someone soon to try it with out with me.

Schnipper's Quality Kitchen (620 8th Avenue New York, NY 10018) Cuisine: American

Bobby Flay was featured in a throwdown at Schnipper's Quality Kitchen in the episode "Sloppy Joes" and the winner was Bobby Flay. My best friend told me that they have really amazing cheese fries and I sure do love cheese fries.

Uncle Jack's Steakhouse (440 9th Ave New York, NY 10001) Cuisine: American

It's quite sad really that my boyfriend and I haven't tried Uncle Jack's Steakhouse because we both have two $25 gift cards for Uncle Jack's Steakhouse. We got it last year from attending a networking event that took place at one of the locations in Manhattan.

It's been about six or seven months and we haven't even used it. I sure hope we use it soon because we both do love a good and juicy steak every now and then.

Basta Pasta (37 West 17th Street New York, NY 10011) Cuisine: Italian/Japanese

Basta Pasta isn't entirely a popular restaurant, but it is an ideal restaurant for a date or with someone special. From what I've heard, it's a great place to have a small birthday dinner and the food is pretty phenomenal because it's Japanese ingredients mixed with Italian dishes. That's interesting combination and I sure hope to go with my boyfriend at some point of this year.

What are restaurants that you hope to try in 2012?

I tried to go to Ippudo last time I was in the city, but as you mentioned, they don't take reservations and there was like a 45 minute wait. We were too hungry to wait that long, lol. Maybe I'll try going for lunch someday. I also heard about it on the Food Network - that ramen with pork belly sounds AMAZING. I'd also like to try the Shake Shack - I don't really go to Brooklyn though, so I'd probably go to the one near Broadway.

Another NYC restaurant I want to try is Khyber Pass, an Afghan restaurant on St. Mark's. My friend and I went in there a few weeks ago because we got the urge to smoke some hookah, but some of the food passing by looked delicious!
