Last night I was able to cross off my first item from
this list. My husband and I had plans to go out with another couple and I chose Jimmy's No. 43 since we've been wanting to go for a long time. We've heard a lot about this place, so we expected greatness.
As soon as we walked in, I wondered if I chose the wrong the wrong place for us to eat lunch.
I knew it was a popular place, but we had to squeeze onto the end of another table and we were uncomfortable most of our meal. I guess you have to go there earlier than 2 o'clock on a Saturday to get a good seat.

We probably sat there for 10 - 15 minutes before anyone served us, which was fine, we were having a good time talking with our friends. They have about 10 beers on tap and a lot more in bottles, but I don't usually order bottled beer, I go for what's on draught. Over the course of our time there I ordered 2 beers; a Sly Fox Dunkel Lager and a wheat beer that I can't remember the name of.
Biscuits were a part of many items on the menu, but they were all out of them that day. Bummer. Also, they were apparently out of coke, who runs out of coke?
They were serving brunch, therefore the menu was even smaller than expected. I ordered the Black and Tan Griddle cakes that came with bananas and caramel syrup.

The pancakes tasted great! You could taste the beer in them and the caramel sauce was delicious. But, they also cost me $12. Overall the menu was small and overpriced. My friend got a $10 burger that came with just the burger, no sides and it was pretty tiny. Someone else ordered the Toasted Beer Bread with Jam, which came with 2 tiny, tiny pieces of toast for $3.
The beer selection here was good, but nothing special, especially in comparison to the rest of NYC. I'm definitely disappointed with this place, I expected more. Yes, it's New York and things are expensive, but everything about this place left me feeling disappointed and upset that I chose to come here.
It seemed like kind of rip off in general, I know I can get food that tastes just as good or even better somewhere with more reasonable prices. The only way I would go back would be if I was in the area and wanted a beer or two, otherwise it's not worth coming out of my way for.
Have you been to Jimmy's No. 43? Where were you excited to go that turned out to be disappointing?

oh I've been trying to go there for a while, they have a great happy hour deal as I've heard
I took my husband to this Thai restaurant for his birthday. Yelp & another travel app told me that it was sooo amazing. I beg to differ. I'd rather go to the hole in the wall Thai restaurant that we've been going to instead. For the two of us I spent $60. I know that it's Alaska prices, but no way. Their food was definitely not worth that money. I'd gladly dish that out for the hole in the wall one.
