Last night I made the classic pre-race dinner of pasta to help carb load for the half marathon this morning. I made fettuccine with meat sauce and some delicious garlic bread.
I woke up this morning to this:

I didn't technically have to run this race, but I decided to suck it up and head out to the park. Now, I won't get into the details here, but the "race" was BRUTAL. If you care to hear about the gory details, check out my race report
here.
I was STARVING by the time I got home. I absolutely could not wait to scarf down some food.
Finally, we made it to 5 Napkin Burger around 1:30. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with Tuscan Fries and a 5 Napkin Nut Brown Ale.

It hit the spot. I am stuffed now and I'm sure dinner (if there is one) will be super light.
What do you eat after a hard workout? Do you reward yourself with food after any kind of achievement?

What is this "workout" of which you speak?
@purpleranger - Ha!
yum!!
You know it's funny that they compare giving birth to running a marathon. I never believed anyone, since I can't run a mile, but I can certainly give birth! Anyway, I expected to be hungry enough to eat two portion sizes afterwards, but all I was hungry for was a snack!
Point is, gimme some of those french fries!
I normally don't need anything before my workout, maybe just half a banana, and i eat a bowl of cereal, finish my other half banana. On Sat, when i workout longer, I might add an egg.
My goal is to do a half marathon soon (they're pricey to do) and a full marathon before I die (it's only $10 diff to do a full).
I could never run a 5k in that winter wonderland. Cross country skiiing, maybe, but not run.
Much like you, i love to eat, and i love to workout. It's just harder in the wintertime (to get out of the warm bed and go running)
I can't bring myself to eat at 5 Napkin. It's just too expensive for a burger, even though they're 10 ounces. I read your race recap - don't feel bad! I'm amazed you could do 7 miles in that arctic zone. I do a 5 mile power walk every day on the UWS (my knee is bad, so running is out) and I could barely do mine. You're hardcore.
I don't know about anyone else but if it's a relatively full-out effort race I have no desire to eat for more than a few hours after.
My reward is hoping to live longer.
I work out in the early evenings, so I usually stick to a carb breakfast with cereal/yogurt/banana and skip lunch. after workouts, i always crave fruit, but I wouldn't be able to eat a meal like a burger for a good hour. I'd definitely get sick :P
That burger looks amazing!
I've run half marathons and I love (not really haha) how around mile 8 you get HUNGRY...like, you hear your stomach rumble. Luckily, the race I run is great and they give out Gu at the top of the 8th mile! It makes a HUGE difference
That pasta looks delicious.
I always eat pizza after I go backpacking.
When I was distance cycling I used to eat oatmeal and fruit for breakfast. I never could keep up with the calories though...always ate less than I needed. Then my weight would plateau.
Both meals look great.
I want lasagna....
During cross country season, we'd always get together before a meet and have pasta parties. All the runners would just eat a crapload of carbs from millions of servings of pasta and bread. Probably overdid it, but it was delicious...
