First Impressions Are Lasting Impressions
Have you ever tried a food or a drink for the very first time and it left a lasting impression and memory with you? Just think about it for a minute.
2011 was a year full of transitions, lessons, and adventures. I was lucky to experience a lot of food adventures, some good and some bad. However, I can say that all the good food I tried left a lasting impression and memory in my heart and I'd like to share it with you.
Halal Food: Halal Food has became a huge food trend especially in The Big Apple. At just about every corner you turn, there's always a food cart or truck that's grilling up Halal food.
There's a lot to choose from a typical truck or cart, but my most favorite is: chicken with rice and white sauce. I love the white sauce because it's creamy and has a slight acidity to it. In addition, Halal food is inexpensive and great street food.

Baked By Melissa: I've always wanted to try Baked by Melissa and see what the hype was. I'm not a huge fan of pastries, but I absolutely love these bite size deliciousness from Baked By Melissa.
The cupcakes come in a wide range of flavors and colors. I haven't tried all of them, but I can say my absolute favorite one is: red velvet! The cupcakes are tiny, moist, and delectable!

Subway Cookies: I never noticed that Subway had cookies, since it's well-known for their sandwiches. One of my twitter followers encouraged me to try the cookies out, since they were inexpensive.
Honestly, I wasn't too thrilled with it because I always feel the best cookies should be freshly baked and come from a cafe or a bakery, not a sandwich shop. Lesson learned.

Bi Bim Bap: The first time I tried Bibimbap I was with my boyfriend. I had no idea what it was or what it would look like, since I was only reading the description.
Bibimbap is a signature Korean dish and is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with vegetables and chili pepper paste. A raw or fried egg and sliced meat are common additions. I love bibimbap because it's massive, hearty, and tasty. It reminds me of the Chinese clay pot rice.

Royal Pudding: My best friend introduced me to a sweet treat called royal pudding that's available at this unique bakery and cafe known as Paris Baguette. The royal pudding is quite tasty, irresistible, and intriguing. The royal pudding is a bed of vanilla pudding yogurt.

Pad Thai: This year was my first time trying Pad Thai and I've been eating Thai food for about two or three years. After my first bite into Pad Thai, I fell insanely in love with it because it's just full of deliciousness and irresistible.
At some point, I was having an obsession with Pad Thai that I just had to have it at any Thai restaurant that I was going to.
This year I've been exposed to a lot of new and different foods and I'm glad. Next year, I hope to try even more food that's new and different.
What new food have you tried this year? What did you think of it?

Halal is not a trend... comparably it's like kosher is for Jewish people, but Halal is for Muslims. Anyways, best chicken and rice is the guy on 53rd and 6th after 7, nothing else tastes the same. The only other thing I've tried on here that I like are the subway cookies...mmmm..love them! And I've been meaning to try bi bim bap, everyone says it's amazing. =)
