I Finally Tried a French Macaron!
I was making cake pops for my moms birthday party and I got a packaged delivered to my house with my name on it. Obviously extremely excited I got mail, I ripped open the package to find 24 pastel-colored macarons in a clear gift box. My friend Lauren sent me an early Christmas surprise since she knows I've never tried a French macaron before. She ordered the macarons from Macaron Cafe in NYC.
I was so excited to try one because I've been seeing them everywhere lately. French macarons just might be the new cupcake...gasp!! I had absolutely no idea what one would even taste like so obviously I opened the box and tried one right away.
I randomly grabbed a pink-colored one since there were was no flavor guide and bit into it. The flavor was intense but subtle at the same time. The texture was almost like a pignoli cookie from an Italian bakery. It was chewy and very sweet. The cream (or custard?) inside was extremely fresh and decadent.

After I finished my pink-colored macaron, I examined all the other ones sitting perfectly in the box. They were so pretty and the colors were eye-catching. They actually reminded me of Easter eggs with all the pastel colors. For my first French macaron experience, I can say I was definitely pleased.
Have you ever tried a French macaron? Do you like them?

For a second they looked like rainbow colored krabby patties, but then I got a closer look. LOL
I always treat myself to one with coffee at the Bouchon bakery before class starts or after a long day :)
I had my first macaron in Lucerne in August this year and it was freaking AMAZING!!!
ohhh i must try!!
I've been trying to find an easy to follow recipe forever! These are SOOOO GOOD!
I had one from Norman Love Confections the other day. Delicious and a lovely texture.
Those look so pretty! I'd love to try one!
These tiny treats are HEAVENLY.
Gosh, my mouth waters just looking at these. I tried one and fell in love with it ever since. I always get atleast 5 whenever I'm at the Korean bakery near my orthodonist! :D They're quite pricey for a tiny piece of treat - $1.00 for a piece [atleast at the Korean place I go to]My favorite is the green pistachio flavor!
I can only have ONE at a time. They're usually too sweet!
I absolutely LOVE macarons! I actually think they're tied for my favorite cookie! Making them, though, can be a bit of a challenge sometimes.
I have tried them before and I love them. They are a wonderful treat. The flavors are usually very intense and it only takes one to satisfy my sweet tooth.

I want to try them so bad. But I still haven't. One day. One day.
I've heard from so many people that they are delicious but have yet to try them myself!
@everpwr90@xanga - For a while there I would have an ad on facebook for these and I always thought thats what they were as embarressing as it is.. Haha..
I have never tried them, maybe I will eventually, but Im not sure.. Meh.. Im not too big on pastry type things lol
@bbanmen420@xanga - I'm not, either.
...can't remember the last time I had a cheese danish.
The people on this site are so small town lol. Ah the internet. And no, I don't give a fuck if someone bitches at me for saying that. It's still true.
They're so expensive though. :(
So that's what they are I see them pictured on my Facebook page all the time for some bakery in Atlanta, FB thinks I live in Atlanta! I live near Philly.
@SuGaBaYbiEx69@xanga - French meringue version, and Italian meringue version.
They can be super temperamental to make (humidity of the day, different over temperatures, resting periods, aging the egg whites to dry them out or not, etc) but have fun (: I love baking them, especially if I randomly have extra egg whites on hand. If you look at food blogs, Tartelette has some good recipes as well. But if you have a basic recipe you can basically do whatever you want with them, since really the filling is all that gets flavored.
I saw these in the 14th Pokemon Movies, Black & White. Victini loved them.
@youngvan@xanga - Yes they are very sweet!! I definitely could eat one and be completely satisfied.
@shivergirl07@xanga - They are definitely worth it :)
I've wanted to try one ever sense I saw the new pokemon movie ^.^
My friend makes these all the time and lucky me, I get to test out new flavors. :D I love them.
