I always wonder if people tend to drink on Christmas or not. I like to enjoy a couple of beers while I'm snacking on appetizers, but when it finally comes down to sitting down and eating, I don't want beer to fill my stomach, so I usually drink a small glass of soda or seltzer water to help quench my thirst.
Also, I think a lot of families with have wine and a toast before dinner? Is that something you do? My family doesn't drink much wine, so we've never had that tradition, we are usually sucking down beers all day and then we dig into the food as soon as it hits the table. Wow, we sound so rude, ha!
My dad starts handing us beer as soon as we walk through the door and we usually walk into an array of shrimp, vegetable crudite and cheese and crackers. Ah, I can't wait for this Sunday!
What do you drink with your Christmas dinner? Wine, beer, water? Do you have any kind of drinking tradition or routine in your family?

For Christmas I love to have the Eggnog, and also some rum and coke.
Every special occasion we have a shot of Slovak plum-brandy or another liquor soon after everyone is together, but that's about it.
my dad brings some wine and there's always beer but I don't really enjoy drinking with my family.... not to mention I'm more of a liquor girl and there's never cocktails at our get togethers.
My family has had wine with Christmas dinner in the past, but not in recent years. No particular reason; we just haven't.
I like Root Beer.
I always drink water with dinner but most of my family has beer the moment they walk in the door. This year I am bringing some homemade wine from a guy at work and I may have a little of that.
Nobody drinks alcohol at our Christmas dinners, but my mom and I usually pour a couple strong drinks after my dad's family leaves... :)
After family Christmas stuff tomorrow, I plan on going out and getting absolutely SHITFACED with my friends. Let the merriment commence!
I'm going with a rum and coke. Also, gummy bears soaked in rum.
My family doesn't have any drinking traditions for Christmas. We drink what we like, I like an occasional glass of wine or fruity cocktail. Growing up my parents didn't really drink so there were never any eggnog, hot toddies or Irish coffee.
I had some wine this year. Some of the other people in the house had beer and rum.
We usually toast with Martinelli's sparkling cider because my immediate family doesn't drink.
I didn't drink a ton on Christmas, because I had to drive to my boyfriend's family party after my family get-together and then back home. But I did enjoy a glass of wine with my family and a beer with his, so that was nice.
