  • Eating Raw Cookie Dough

I think almost everyone enjoys the taste of cookie dough! It's hard not to resist, sometimes it tastes even better than the actual cookie. I know it's not good, but I like to take a few small bites here and there when I'm making cookies.

Cookie dough isn't safe to eat because it has raw eggs in it and can therefore cause you to become sick with salmonella or other illnesses. Even pre-made cookie dough that is sold at the store isn't really safe to eat. There was a food poisoning outbreak due to cookie dough in 2009 and I've known a few people myself who have gotten sick from eating raw cookie dough. So, it does happen.

Do you eat raw cookie dough when you are baking? Are you ever concerned that you might get sick?
