  • Some Of My Favorite Japanese Dishes

Here are some of my all-time favorite Japanese dishes. Clockwise from left: Seafood salad, Grilled eggplant in miso sauce, Deep fried tofu, Plum rice in tea-flavoured soup. いただきます!

In the mood for some Japanese cuisine? Swing by Yumeya (literal translation: Dream House) in Robertson Quay and find yourself in a world where chilled and jazzy Robertson Quay meets traditional and popular Japanese dishes! This interestingly bizarre and seemingly transient space is further accentuated by its odd mix of Chinese waitresses in yukatas  (summer kimonos) greeting all diners in broken Japanese, tables of foreign expats, traditional Japanese music in the background and Mohamed Sultan clubbers trotting pass its shopfront. That said, the dishes, like all Japanese cuisine in Singapore, feel a little overpriced for its taste. As for the service, it is clearly far from Japanese standards but the waitresses should be lauded for their efforts in trying.

Nicely tucked away in 33 Mohamed Sultan road, this outdoor dining area has just the perfect ambience for a relaxing night out with friends, chatting away over sips of fragrant Japanese sake.
