For Olivia's birthday party, which was this past Sunday, my cousin had asked that I make sugar cookies.
I found this great recipe and decided to try it. Everyone loved it, adults and kids alike. I will definitely be using this recipe again.
INGREDIENTS - 1 1/2 cups butter, softened
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth.

My cousin's hand mixer broke, so I had to do it with a wooden spoon. Thank goodness for my strong arms lol. *flexes*

Beat in eggs and vanilla extract.

Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Take out about a 1/4 of the dough and roll it out on a floured surface, 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Repeat until you have used up all the dough.

I used bear cookie cutters,

stars,

and mini bears.

Ooh, looks delicious! Thanks for the recipe :)
I wish I had a bigger kitchen with the space to cook more delicious things.
@slumpysl0th@xanga - pull out your drawers and place cookie sheets on them for more cookie cooling space! That's what a friend of mine did when the holiday baking bug bit her!
I love to use parchment paper on the cookie sheets. That way if you spill sugar when you're decorating the cookies it doesn't melt on the sheets. You can just slide paper and all onto your cooling racks, toss another sheet on the cookie sheet and start decorating the next batch!
Aww, those look delicious. I love sugar cookies, now I will definitely have to try this, thanks for the recipe!
