In Flight Snacks
I'm going to be on a 23-hour journey soon and amidst packing my clothes and necessities, I'm also taking snacks with me! What to take on a plane ha always been a hard decision for me. If I had my way, I'd grab a picnic basket and fill it with all my favorite foods. But that might be futile. A recent study found that the background noise in a plane affects the intensity of flavor and how we perceive crunchiness of the food.
While packing my snack list, I followed a few simple guidelines to guide what I take with me. Here are five rules you should follow (or at the very least, consider) before packing food for the plane:
1. How strong is the smell? When it comes to public transport, you always need to be considerate of your neighbors. Taking strongly scented curry (or anything else with a stench) can be annoying for your fellow passengers.
2. Will it go bad? Don't take anything that needs to be refrigerated or requires special attention. Air hostesses have plenty on their plates. The last thing they need is for passengers to make special requests to warm up food or refrigerate their meals.
3. Will it make you thirsty? Being in air already dehydrates you, so the last thing you need is to consume foods that further dehydrate you. Opt against overly salty foods that make you extra thirsty.
4. Does it contain nuts? With over TK people allergic to nuts, I like to play it safe by keeping my plane food nut free. Yes, I know airlines used to offer nuts to every passenger as a snack without causing serious damage, but I have witnessed a nut allergy where the individual didn't consume any nuts!
5. Is it legal? Make sure what you're taking in flight doesn't go against airlines rules or policy. Remember that you can't take drinks and water bottles past the check point so you're better of purchasing liquids in the airport itself. Some countries have strict rules about what foods you enter the country with, so double check it all!
What do you take to eat on your flights?

just to remember, you often can eat it on the plane. I fly to Australia regularly and they're VERY strict about importing food. However, you can take it on the plane and they just provide lots of trash cans when you land for you to dispose of any illegal foods so it can be destroyed before it enters the country.
otherwise, good list!
