Winter is approaching near and the temperatures are changing rapidly. Many of us are prone to getting sick with all these changes. Getting sick is one of my worse fears because I tend to lose my appetite, can't concentrate on the work that needs to be done, and feel weak. Certain foods and fluids can relieve congestion, sore throat, sinus pain, and coughing. Instead of resorting to antibiotics, you should consider an alternative way of saying goodbye to your cold - by using natural remedies. Na

I think mustard soup is more effective than chicken soup, but I'm not sure it is well known in America
All good things to know, Jess. The post is right on time. Thank you. I've been fighting a cold for a couple of weeks & have managed to keep it at bay. I make a simple egg flower soup and add lots of garlic. Wouldn't want to breath on anybody, but it helps with the stuffiness. I drink a lot of green tea with honey & lemon. Seems to sooth the throat & loosen the chest. Never heard of mustard soup. Sounds interesting. Will have to try both the Mint and Ginger teas to see what happens.
Thank you for this post! I'm pregnant and even though I was given a list of medicines that I can take, I won't just because I don't want to take a chance of hurting my child. I'm all for the natural things.
For me, an old family remedy for coughs is equal amounts of honey, lemon juice, and bourbon. It soothes the throat, and if you imbibe enough of it, you probably won't care that you have a cold.
Onion is also suppose to help, but I can't remember how :)
**Cranberry Juice. It cleans out your system and also brings mucus out. Quickly for me. I drink the whole 64oz. bottle in 1-2 days when I'm sick.
**I blow my nose rather than sniffling. Sniffling just prolongs a cold.
**Some people spit, but I'm too lady-like for that...It works though..
**I sleep. That works greatly too but it's hard to find the time.
**Eat something spicy to clear congestion.
**I eat pancakes with hot syrup or chew Juicy Fruit gum to soothe my throat if it's itchy
**Ricola cough drop suppresses my cough (I like the cherry honey flavor)
**I drink orange juice at night right before taking a hot shower. It makes me sneeze
All of them are weird..I know. lol but it works for me..
Great tips! I think fasting, or at least eating less can help a bunch sometimes! It has worked for me. Nice warm honey-lemon tea is good as well!
I heat up a redbull and soak in the toxicity. It kills the "bad" germs.
@Yess_1902@xanga - Never liked mustard!
@MzSilver@xanga - No problem, hope a lot of people find this post handy especially when dealing with a cold.
