  • What Are You Thankful For?

Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at IReallyLikeFood!

Stephanie - I am thankful for many things, but on Thanksgiving, I am so thankful for my family and the wonderful food that is always prepared. I was so lucky to grow up with parents who could cook not just well, but amazingly! I am thankful for my mom's stuffed mushrooms and the fact that my dad has a knack for always making the best turkey and real mashed potatoes. I am also thankful that my dad always makes me my own special baked sweet potato because he knows I don't like the sweet glazed ones and that my sister always makes us the best desserts!

Susmita - There's so much to be thankful for this year in my life. I've made many new friends that I can't imagine life without and am always thankful for the old friends I have fostered a relationship with so far in my life. From a foodie perspective, I am thankful for having the luxury of having access to, and the means for, eating my favorite foods. I am thankful for my foodie family that jumps on board for impromptu food feats and for my foodie friends who enable me by sending me food porn (images of delicious food) and indulging my crazy food cravings. I'm also thankful for sushi (as pictured above) for being my go-to meal on an average night of the week.

Rachel - This has been a crazy year for me and I have so much I am thankful for that I couldn't possibly list all of them, so here's a few. First, I'm thankful for my amazing family, boyfriend & friends. I would literally be no where without any of you. Second, I am thankful to have found this amazing internship with IRLF because it has really influenced me to pursue my passion for food and I met wonderful fellow foodies! Third, I am thankful for carbs...yes, you read that correctly. I eat carbs pretty much all day, every day (even now I am surrounded by them on my kitchen table). Luckily, my Thanksgiving dinners are full of carbs, and since I don't eat turkey (I know, I know) I go all out. Bring on the mashed potatoes, baked mac & cheese, stuffing, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, bread rolls, pies, oh and more mashed potatoes!

Jessica - Around July, I lost my grandpa and from that point on I had a different outlook on life. Around the time my grandpa was hospitalized, I had just found out I got the internship with IRLF and an internship with the commercial real estate company that I'm currently working for. I landed both positions and in both positions, I was promoted from intern to Contributing Editor and from intern to Marketing & Operations Associate. Although my grandpa isn't around now, I know he would be happy if he knew how successful I am now. I am thankful for my family, my loving boyfriend, my friends, my two jobs, and of course food! One food that I am really thankful for is my boyfriend's dumplings! We recently spent a weekend night folding, pan-frying, and indulging on dumplings that we made. It's an incredible feeling when your making food and sharing food with the one you love!

Ga Ming - I'm thankful for a billion things but first and foremost, I am thankful for my family and friends. They are always there to lift me up when I'm feeling down and I know I can always enjoy a good laugh with them. I'm also thankful for this internship. If you don't already know, I write in NC instead of NY (but that would be sooo awesome to be with ya'll!) and I really appreciate all of the help and advice that I have received from the people that work for IRLF. A dish that I'm thankful for is my dad's fried rice. I kid you not when I say it's the BEST and the fact that he takes the time despite orders he has to prepare at work (he's a cook at our family-owned restaurant) to make my sister and me lunch is truly a blessing! (sorry I don't have a picture of it so I hope this one will suffice)

Dane- This year, like most I guess, has been both rough and rewarding. I've been working for IRLF since May and I have to say I have enjoyed my time here so much thus far. I'm so thankful to be working with some a wonderful team of writers and editors and, of course, all the readers. I've gone through some stuff this year and I couldn't be happier to have the IRLF team and my loved ones by my side. Aside from all the mushy "i love the holidays" feelings we all get, it's also important to tell you how thankful I am for my father's cooking. We are usually stuck dealing with my aunt's awful cooking on Thanksgiving, so I'm happy to say that, when I'm not at school, I get to eat my father's cooking. The night before Thanksgiving this year, we'll be enjoying sausage and fennel risotto! (Stay tuned for a post on that!)

    What are you thankful for?
