I've Finally Tried Eggs Benedict!
It's hard to make time for a proper sit down breakfast with my boyfriend or my family especially with a busy schedule. This past weekend, my boyfriend and I revisited a diner that we've recently started going to: Coach House Diner. We've visited Coach House Diner twice for dinner, so we decided to come here for brunch.
When I go to a diner for brunch, I typically order an omelet, but this time I wanted to try something different and new. While I was glancing at the breakfast menu, I decided to go for the Eggs Benedict and it consisted of poached eggs with Canadian bacon and an English muffin with Hollandaise sauce with a side of home fries.
I decided to order the Eggs Benedict because I never tried it before and was always curious as to what it was and what it tasted like. I was hesitant in trying the Eggs Benedict because I'm so used to having eggs in an omelet, sunny side-up, scrambled, or boiled. I've never had it poached.

The eggs Benedict was soft and light. Hollandaise sauce is best served with eggs Benedict. There was a hint of lemon juice in it, but it wasn't too overwhelming. I never had Hollandaise sauce, but I do know it is one of the "Mother" sauces. The inside of the eggs Benedict was very runny and it was interesting to look at as it was oozing out.

The eggs Benedict was just something to I wanted to try because I was always curious as to what the experience would be like. Sadly, I don't think I'll try it again because I've learned that I don't really like my eggs poached and yolk runny. It wasn't too appealing for me.
As for everything else on the plate, the home fries were good, English muffin was crunchy and toasty, but the Canadian bacon was a little too salty.
What is your ideal breakfast?

That looks like ham and not canadian bacon.
@andreaaaaah@lovelyish - What is the difference?
The eggs benedicts I've seen fellow diners consume usually have eggs a little more done than the runny ones you've described, but I've only had them at brunch buffets, so they're pretty poached well done. Weekday breakfast usually consists of yogurt and fruit OR a freezer waffle and a fried egg OR oatmeal OR cold cereal. (And sometimes, even Saturday breakfast would be of similar type...or something leftover from dinner on Friday.)
Sunday breakfast, however, I'd like to have a big breakfast (and usually it occurs pretty late). Combinations I like (not all at the same time):
* Scrambled eggs, sausage patty and buttermilk pancakes with fruit topping
* Crepes with fresh fruit and whipped cream, maybe some bacon or slice of ham and maybe scrambled eggs
* Over easy eggs, crisp bacon, wheat toast, country potatoes (I didn't use to like runny eggs either, but now I eat it but only with toast, or in huevos rancheros)
* Veggie scramble/omelet, either with toast or rolled up in a wheat tortilla to make breakfast burrito (I used to make it with bacon, sausage or ham, but that was too heavy so I started making it with sauteed spinach, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, or whatever else veggies I had on hand.)
My Sunday breakfasts aren't usually too healthy...I just realized.
I love eggs benedict. The ones I have had have a little run to them but not as much as you had. It looks delicious... and maybe they fried the "canadian bacon" aka ham in salted butter... But it could have also been the brand. This is a good breakfast to spoil yourself with but the healthiest lol. I spoiled my self with a homemade breakfast burrito this past weekend and my honey :)
I had mine with Salmon and oh my gosh, I love it.
OMG I love eggs bendict!!!!!! :):)
I've never had eggs benedict :(
To me, eggs benedict tastes like an egg mcmuffin from McDonald's... i.e. pure deliciousness!!!
i LOVE eggs benedict, especially with that sauce. my neighbor made it, but she had brought over a packet from germany and it was like heaven.
"The eggs benedict was soft and light" Ha, in my experience there is NOTHING light about eggs benedict!
@immoral_sensei@xanga - I think the difference between ham and Canadian bacon is the cut of meat cured. Ham is typically the leg and Canadian bacon is made from the tenderloin.
@malissa1578@xanga - Wow I haven't had a breakfast burrito since two years ago. What does your breakfast burrito usually consist of?
@thecolourofwater@xanga - Sounds yum!
@goodeatings - Chorizo, eggs, beans (refried or black), sausage, potatoes and chili's :) and of course depending on what we decide either red or green chili.
@malissa1578@xanga - Sounds heavenly!
I need to go to Denny's....!
