Cakes in All Shapes and Forms
I love to bake for many reasons. It makes my house smell yummy, I like to decorate desserts, and I love eating everything I bake. Normally, I just stick to baking cupcakes because they are my favorite but sometimes I make layered cakes. Last year for Christmas, my parents bought me the giant cupcake cake pan and it's awesome. Loving the idea of a giant cupcake cake pan, I did some research and found these cute cake pans as well.
Donut Cake: I always see this cake pan at Bed Bath & Beyond and I'm so tempted to buy it. It's such a cute idea and it's an easy cake to decorate to make it look like a donut.
Cake-Sicle Pan: Ok this is just awesome. I feel like it's a variation on cupcakes in a way. The reason I love cupcakes is because I like having my own personal cake rather than cutting a slice. The cake-sicles are the same idea whereas you get your own cake on a stick. Plus they are more fun! and as show in the picture you can make brownies and cookies too.
Checkerboard Cake Pan: Talk about looking professional! This cake pan separates different cake batters in the pan to create a checkerboard pattern. It's so easy and looks like you spent tons of time on it. I would love to try this using all different colors.
I definitely want to get more cake pans (cookie cutters too) to bake fun things like these. I would love to be able to make cakes with fondant and pretty piping, but I don't really have those skills. By using unique cake pans, I can at least get a fun look and design that's super easy. I can tell you that my giant cupcake cake was definitely a hit when I made it for my sister and brother's birthday last year!

I have a friend who makes really professional looking yummy looking desserts. Makes me jealous, I have no time for that stuff right now
Doing cakes for a business I have cake pans in many shapes and sizes but I do most my cake designs with sheet cakes and sculpt them myself ;)
The checker cake is awesome for 4th of july and those holidays that have 3 specific colors.
The cookie pops are amazing but there are better things out there to use, IMHO.
I love love love right now Cake Push pops and Cake pops... They are so fun to make and figure out how to make them different each time ;)

I dislike cupcakes, so I'd never use the giant cupcake pan. However, I'm currently seeking out the checker pan. I only have circle cake pans, and I want to get some square cake pans. I have a jelly roll pan that I plan on breaking in this Christmas to get my technique down for when I open my own bakery.
I have always wanted the giant cupcake maker! And you can put fillings in it and stuff.. I think I'd be fun to make those :) My bf would LOVE the giant donut!

I received a giant cupcake pan for Christmas last year. While I think the cake comes out really cute, but it's hard to cut unless you remove the top from the bottom part of the cake to slice. Also, it takes a long time to bake because of the thickness. Also, the top takes less time to bake then the bottom, so thankfully mine is not like the pan pictured above, it's in 2 pieces. I can take out the top before it overcooks waiting for the bottom half. From the other pans, I'd love to have the checkerboard device, it looks so easy but the cake looks intricate. It's a modern take to present a chocolate and white cake, such as in marble cake. I have regular round and rectangle pans, I'd like to have square ones, and even some shaped ones, but I do have some shaped pans inherited from my husband's grandmother's stash when she passed away. It's too bad I never got to cook or bake with her, I heard she was an amazing cook before she had a stroke.
@a_single_raindrop@xanga - Awww, sorry to hear that things don't come out as expected! It could have been the recipe, or the basic techniques. The types of measuring cups you use, to the order in which ingredients are mixed and how long all affect the outcome. You can do it!
how cool! I'd love to experiment with something like these, but I feel like I'd only use it once and then it would take up room :(
I have the Big Top Cupcake but the cupcakes kept falling apart. It made me sad :/
I'm not the best baker in the world. I'd rather cook then bake.

We have that checkerboard thing. Unless you cut it EXACTLY in the middle, it looks kind of odd and not so checkerboard-y. It's still neat, just may not look as good as that picture.

I love baking! Not sure about the giant cupcake. It sounds like people are having issues with it. But the other ones seem like they'd do a good job.
@Digital_Angel21@xanga - I've never had a problem with my giant cupcake pan. It takes a little more batter and a longer time to cook, but I think it's worth it!
