GRAPPLES: Grape Flavored Apples
As a society, we're taking multi-tasking to a new level. According to MarketWatch, the seasonal treat known as Grapples (pronounced grape-ells) are becoming increasingly popular.
What are they? Grape flavored apples!
Grapples are sold from October until May. The unique fruit is made from Washington State Gala apples and Fuji apples, which are then drenched in a mix of Concord grape flavor and water. The apples remain their natural color--red.
If you think this extra flavoring is unhealthy or adds unnecessary calories, think again! According to the company website, making Grapples does not add extra calories or sugar to the healthy fruit.
On a personal note, I'm not a fan of grape-flavored anything (except natural grapes) so I probably wouldn't spend the extra money (a pack of four Grapples cost between $2.99 to $3.99) on this concoction.
Would you try Grapples? Have you ever tried them?

Why not just eat grapes?
Anyways, I heard you don't really taste the grape flavor.
I'd try it just to try it, but only if I had a huuuuuge surplus in my food budget.
That just sounds wrong to me. I really wouldn't be inclined to try this. I feel like it would vex the crap out of me. If I wanted something grape flavored, I'll stick with eating grapes or drinking grape juice.
Grapples are pretty tasty! They taste a bit sweeter than apples. They are a little pricey, though.
Very unlikely that I will try this. Prefer to eat grapes OR apples, not grape-flavored apples. I don't really care for anything "grape-flavored" because the grape flavoring always taste so artificial.
I want to taste!
you can taste the grape flavor...it's nasty. but I hate fake grape flavoring, so I'm probably not very reliable.
I might try it once. Beyond that, it would depend on my initial reaction.
Pro:It's tasty,and It's more healthier than a candy apple!
Cons: that it costs quite a bit ($5 for 4 apples). I could only taste the flavor on the skin, though.
On a plus side they were mentioned on an episode of Pysch.
I don't know. I tried these once and never again will I do that. I didn't like the taste, but then again I prefer Granny Smith apples anyway.
I'd try it just out of curiosity.
oh man these were out for a long time. i remember i first had one in like 2005? i was so intrigued. and it actually tastes pretty good, you can taste the grape. i don't care that its artificial or whatever argument people may have to put them down. i love grapples!
i would try it.. just cause of the name. haha
but do they really taste like it? XD
is this one of the genetically modified foods? I dont support gmc foods
hmmm well i'm intrigued - i'd try them !
I'm not a fan. I think they taste more like a grape lollipop than actual grapes, which is weird. Both fruits are great on their own.
Almost bought these today.
@nihaokeisha@xanga - "Why not just eat grapes?"
Yeah, really! If I want a grape, I'll eat grapes. If I want an apple, I'll eat an apple!
I totally want one.
I had one 6 or 7 years ago in college. They were okay, but I haven't seen them since. I didn't have a problem with them, but they aren't my favorite thing.
@The_Unknown_Blogger@xanga - i second that
sounds yummy
Are they genetically modified? Hmm
