  • November 3 is National Sandwich Day

Happy Sandwich Day Everyone! Today is a celebration of one of America's favorite foods: the sandwich! The reason for National Sandwich Day is because of a noble English man named John Montagu. He wanted to eat his meat with one hand during a 24-hour gambling event and instructed his servants to serve him his lunchmeat between two slices of bread.

To commemorate the birth of the world's first sandwich-maker, November 3 is now National Sandwich Day! In honor of National Sandwich Day, I decided to make a list of my favorite sandwiches:

    1. Philly Cheese-Steak is definitely number one. I truly love almost any sandwich with beef or steak squeezed together with additional toppings. I love my Philly Cheese-Steak sandwich with of course steak, mozzarella or Swiss cheese, pepper, tomatoes, and sweet onions.

The first day I started working with my commercial real estate firm, I was treated to a Philly Cheese-steak sandwich and it was phenomenal!

    2. BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich is succulent, smokey, sweet, and tangy! I much prefer it than the McDonald's McRib I recently tried even though they both come from the same animal. Both meats are smothered in sweet and tangy barbecue sauce, but the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich taste more authentic and juicy.

    3. I had a black bean burger from smash burger for lunch and trust me, it didn't look as good and salivating as this. I've had a black bean burger with turkey before which was much tastier. The black bean burger I had the other day wasn't the best looking burger ever, but it was delicious.

Despite that the burger was greasy, mushy, and ginormous; there is one thing that I loved the most. The black bean patty was seasoned heavily with cumin! I love cumin.

    4. It's been a long time since I had a chicken parmigiana sandwich. I've made it at home a few times since one of my specialties in the kitchen is chicken cutlets with a few secret ingredients that intertwine.

The best part of the sandwich is when the cheese is oozing out and the first crunchy bite from the bread! I'm salivating just thinking about it right now.

    5. I've had Banh Mi's a few times which are Vietnamese sandwiches. I haven't had a Banh Mi in a few months and I'm suddenly craving one. Any way, my favorite Banh Mi is the Banh Mi Xiu Mai which is a Vietnamese meatball baguette.

A banh mi is always composed of the following ingredients: the meat, cucumber, cilantro, and shredded carrots and dai-kon. Banh Mi's are inexpensive and will definitely fill you up!

    What is your favorite sandwich?

Anything that is not typical sandwich bread with cold cut meats and cheeses.  I can't stand that $#*!

Probably BBQ or a chicken italian hogi.

I love black bean burgers (would you consider them a sandwich?).  I also love a good grilled cheese sandwich.

Different occasions call for different sandwiches.  Typically sandwich for lunch, love some turkey, lettuce, tomato and avocado, or something similar with ham and cheese but not avocado.  Sometimes, I'd like a chicken salad sandwich: I make at home with shredded/cubed meat from a store bought rotisserie chicken, or leftover cooked chicken from the night before, a little mayo, diced apples, celery and dried cranberries, salt and pepper.  (Typically found in waldorf sandwich, but I can't eat nuts so I skip it.)  I put it on toasted wheat bread, with shaved carrots, sliced tomatoes and spinach leaves.  Grilled cheese is comforting, love that.  There are others, but these are the ones most likely to show up on my plate.

@galadrielspitcher@xanga - If you celebrate with your choosen sandwich today, I don't think anyone will mind

@chakram54@xanga - According to an article I read yesterday a burger counts as a sandwich and is the most popular in America. Lols. I recently had a delicious grilled cheese sandwich with mushrooms. It was superb!

@babybug329@xanga - I'm not a huge fan of avocados. Your sandwiches consists of an interesting selection.

I really like Panera's tomato mozzarella panini. I try so hard to switch it up but it's so good I can't resist!

@goodeatings - Ha! Thanks.  After many years of rice for every dinner (and sometimes breakfast and/or lunch)...now that I can control what's on my plate, rice is not on it often.  (I do still like rice sometimes, but I've ventured out to making rice pilaf and Mexican rice besides the plain steamed white or brown.)
