  • I Can't Stand the Smell of These Foods

Sometimes I'll make certain foods, like cupcakes for example, because I want my house to smell like that. It's just yummy and cozy. I have a sensitive nose so I always tend to smell things that nobody else does. I don't mind it when it's a delicious-smelling food like cake or homemade marinara sauce (I love that smell) but when it's something that I don't like...the alarms in my nose go off. Here's a list of food that I hate the smell of.

Bacon: Eep! If my mom cooks bacon and I happen to be sleeping, it wakes me up. The smell travels to the second floor of my house through my closed door and under my blankets into my poor nose. Don't get me wrong, I like bacon (only with my eggs) but I cannot stand the smell. If its cooked at home, the smell lingers all day and stays on my clothes. Yuck.

Tuna Fish: Tuna fish is probably on the list of one of my most-hated foods. The funny thing is I love spicy tuna aka raw but tuna cooked seems to turn my stomach. I always hated when kids at school would whip out a tuna fish sandwich in the cafeteria. I'm much more of a chicken salad lover.

Burnt Popcorn: Ugh sigh. I love love love popcorn, but there's definitely nothing worse than the smell when its burnt. Talk about lingering smells...my kitchen smells for hours after I burn popcorn, which normally happens when I get sidetracked and leave it in the microwave for too long.

Fennel: This is a really random one. When I was little, I used to eat fennel like it was my job. Now, I can't even go near it. The smell alone makes my face scrunch up...let alone eating it. I guess I ate too much when I was little. It's weird how your taste buds change so much through the years!

Ham: Ham also makes my list of most-hated foods. I have never liked it and I never will. The smell is revolting to me for some reason and the taste is worse. I can't even describe the smell, but it just grosses me out. Thank god no one in my family really ever eats ham or else I'd be in trouble.

However, there is a long list of food smells I love like garlic, baked goods, Italian food, onions, strawberries, wine, etc. I'm sure everyone has their own list of food smells they hate and love.

What food smells do you hate?
