  • My Raisin Nightmares

At our last meet up, I shared a quick story with the gang about my relationship with raisins. (Yes, I have a relationship with raisins and no, it's not normal.)

While most people I know love raisins, I loathe them. And I have a reason too! As weird as this will sound, here's the simple fact: Raisins give me nightmares. And when I say nightmares I don't mean running away from a thief when my legs are stationary or forgetting everything at an exam. I'm talking serial killer attacking me repeatedly nightmares or watching someone I love being dissected. Essentially, nightmares so vicious, violent and disturbing that I almost always wake up in a sweat. This is especially uncomfortable for a person like me because I hate scary movies, horror-anything and am pretty much the biggest sissy you'll find!

This is weird for a few reasons. The first being that I've never heard of anyone who gets nightmares from eating a food. The second is that I can eat grapes and drink wine without any problems--so apparently it's only dehydrated grapes that make me have vivid hallucinations. And the third is that craisins and other dehydrated fruits don't illicit the same responses.

But before you all claim that it's psychological, know that last year I had fruit cake with raisins without my knowledge. That night I had horrific nightmares.

So what is it with dehydrated grapes? It beats me! I'm guessing some sort of chemical change in grapes when they get dehydrated causes me to have horrible dreams.

Do any of YOU have similar reactions to anything? What foods do you hate to eat and why?
