Cold Cheese Pizza...What's that?
Huntington Village is a staple of Long Island (well in my opinion since growing up there). The village is known for its restaurants, bars and little boutiques. For most people, the village is known for Little Vincent's Pizza, which is the home of the cold cheese. I'll get to what that is a little later.
Before I explain what cold cheese is, I should give some background info about Little V's. Most stores in the village close around 10p.m. with exception of a few...Little V's being an exception. They stay open until about 2 or 3a.m. and always have a line out the door. Inside you will find a few tables packed with people usually talking extremely loudly...or screaming. The night crowd is normally people grabbing a bite to eat after a night out at the bars, so this explains the noise level.
Now for cold cheese...heaven. Little V's has very minimal options, but the only reason for going there is because of cold cheese. Cold cheese = a slice of plain pizza straight from the oven topped with a heaping handful of fresh, shredded mozzarella cheese. Oh my god, I'm making myself crave this right now. Trust me when I say this is the best late night food you can imagine. The hot pizza starts to melt the cold cheese and oh gosh it's just so good.
I'm sure if you went into any pizza place and asked for this they would either 1) look at you like a weirdo or 2) do it for you...but it's not the same as Little V's. I'm honestly not sure how much a slice of cold cheese is, but I know it's not more than $4. This may sound like a lot, but the slices are huge and with all that cheese they are filling.
If you ever visit Huntington Village, definitely go try out cold cheese at Little V's.
Do you have any local pizza joints that are known for anything special? Have you ever had cold cheese?
