  • A Hungry Girl On An Adventure to NYC's Spice Restaurant

I am not the biggest fan of Thai food, but when it comes to Spice I give in. I was first introduced to Spice by my roommates about two years ago and I have been hooked ever since. It's a cute Thai restaurant with multiple locations throughout NYC and they deliver...but not to me. Let me tell you a little story.

I just moved into an apartment which apparently isn't in close proximity for Spice to deliver to me. Upon hearing this I was a little upset because when I crave something (as I did with Veggie Black Noodle) I need to satisfy my craving. The Spice I've always gone to is located in Chelsea right by my school, so I figured I could just hop on a subway to pick up my dinner.

Yes, I was getting on a subway to get my dinner to bring back to my apartment...that's how badly I wanted this food. I had just gotten back from a weekend at UAlbany so I was legit starving. I called in my order and headed out the door to the subway. Well due to construction, there were barely any trains running so I waited for more than 15 minutes for a train.

Finally, I get off the extremely packed subway and headed towards what I thought was the right direction. Side-note: Spice is located on my old "stomping grounds" so you would think I know the neighborhood...I am also really clueless with directions.

For the life of me, I could not find Spice. Forty-five minutes have now passed as I circled the block I thought it was located on. Thank goodness I finally found it before I passed out from starvation. I headed back home only to be delayed again on the subway.

I got back to my apartment an hour after leaving to go pick up my dinner. Was it worth it? Yes. Spice Veggie Black Noodle is my favorite dish on the menu. It's only $10 for a huge portion that I can never finish and I also got a side order of brown rice for just $1.50.

Needless to say, this restaurant is so yummy that I wasn't even mad I had just spent an hour trying to find the place...in a neighborhood I lived in for 3 years. If you haven't tried Spice, you should definitely check it out!

Have you ever tried Spice? Are there any restaurants you are willing to seriously travel to just to eat the food?

I've tried SPICE before but the experience was not pleasant and also because I went with a group of friends. The food was poor quality and the service as well. It was probably one of the worse Thai restaurants I've ever been to. I travel a lot to New Jersey with my boyfriend trying different diners and restaurants.

I will drive from Chattanooga to Atlanta just to have slaw dogs, pimento cheeseburgers, onion rings and frosted orange from The Varsity.  That's roughly 2 hours one way.
