I Don't Want my Dessert in Gum Form...
I don't know about anyone else but I like to enjoy my dessert in its original, physical form. I like to bite into a cupcake and cut into a slice of cake. I want to actually scoop out my own ice cream from the container. I do not want to unwrap a piece of gum and pop it in my mouth and call that dessert. Wrigleycame up with the idea that dessert would be a good idea for gum, so Extra Dessert Delights was born.
I know this gum has been around for some time now, but I had never had the courage (or the want) to actually buy a pack at the store. But my sister, on the other hand, loves these little dessert flavored packs. Her personal favorite is the mint chocolate chip. One day I asked her for a piece of gum...and I was presented with that. I should probably let you know mint chocolate chip is my all-time favorite ice cream flavor, so no piece of gum is going to satisfy me.
I tried this gum and surprisingly it kind of did taste like mint chocolate chip. However, I didn't like it. I don't like tasting all these flavors and not having the cold sensation of ice cream melting away in my mouth. If I want dessert then I'll bake something or go to the bakery and get a yummy cookie. I guess I just don't really get how a little piece of gum can satisfy a craving for dessert.
Don't you actually want to smell the delicious aroma of your favorite baked goods? Isn't it nice to see how pretty a dessert can look...before you eat it with your fork.
Wrigley's Extra Dessert Delights gum comes in 3 flavors: strawberry shortcake, mint chocolate chip and key lime pie (all sugar free). Personally, I rather stick to spearmint or peppermint for gum flavors but whatever floats your boat!
Have you tried dessert flavored gum? Do you like it?

I think the point of the gum is more for people who are dieting or can't eat those foods due to whatever reason. This way you can kind of curb the craving for it without actually consuming all the calories/sugar/etc.
I lol'ed when I read the title, because I knew exactly what it was talking about. I'm actually chewing a piece of Key Lime Pie flavored gum now. To me, it isn't a replacement for desserts. I just like the flavor. But it is a nice thing to have while dieting.
@aelurophilia@xanga - Haha that's funny. Yeah I actually didn't think of it for dieting purposes. I don't know the whole idea just still kind of turns me off a little bit.
@rachel - I agree, it really doesn't feel like a dessert :P
I've tried the strawberry shortcake flavor. I didn't like it. A piece of gum can't pass for a dessert. I usually get peppermint flavored gum, but sometimes I'll get fruit flavored ones, especially strawberry or watermelon. The flavor doesn't last long, but it's fun for a few minutes.
If it came down to this, I just wouldn't eat dessert because I don't like to chew gum.
I love gums so for me its gonna be a different experience at-least till the time I am able to savor the great tastes of the desserts.
I tried but it doesn't satisfy my cravings, but it keeps me occupied.
I've tried them all except key lime pie. They're alright. It's good for like...when you want something sweet in the middle of the day but don't have the time to sit down and have a dessert. No where near as good as the real thing.
Definitely would try it. Any type of dessert (even artificial) is better than none!
