Weird Food Loves
There are three foods I used to HATE that all of a sudden one day, they sounded AMAZING. I couldn't stop thinking about them until I tried them!
The thought of consuming the whole body of something that swam (which how the heck do they swim...they have weird tiny feet things?!) just creeped me out. The texture of cold shrimp seemed raw and that just repulsed me. At our annual get together at my aunt's I just had to dip one in cocktail sauce. It was SO good. I loooove shrimp now!
The second thing was tomato soup.

I never liked tomatoes (or onions) but what kid really does? Those things were gradually included in the things I like to eat, but tomato soup had always grossed me out. Tomato...puree, basically. Then one cold day I thought it sounded good to dip my grilled cheese in rather than ketchup. Can't eat grilled cheese w/o it now! Well...I don't like to anyways. I will settle for ketchup if I must. And the most recent thing I have come to LOVE, is sweet potatoes!

I mostly like sweet potato fries. That was the first sweet potato product I had tried since grossing everyone out at Thanksgiving 15 years ago by spitting out the pretty, but disgusting marshmallow-y baked yams. I also made sweet potato mash a week ago. Just added some butter and salt! I like the natural sweetness...but I still can't bring myself to eat the Thanksgiving style sweet potatoes. No, thank you!
What are some foods you craved/loved in which seemed over night?

I LOVE SWEET POTATOES!
I had the same experience with Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese. I'd never understood it and thought it was gross all through childhood. It wasn't until I was out of college even, when my gf at the time convinced me to try it, and since then I love it.
I think our tastebuds change with time. I had to develop a taste for several foods over the course of time. Tomato soup was one of them for me too.
Believe it or not, celery. If you've ever read any of David Weber's Honor Harrington books, you'll understand why reading them got me to give celery a try.
yum
Over time I have developed taste buds and a liking for clams, vodka sauce, and passion fruit iced tea.
As a kid, I hated pizza. What was I thinking!?
POTATOES AND SHRIMP!! YESSSS!! <333333
I saw tomato soup and grilled cheese being a combination in Masterchef Season 2.. it seems great to try since I don't like tomato soup all that much.
I used to hate dark chocolate. Now I really don't like any chocolate BUT dark because it is all too sweet. And I need the really dark stuff, 70%. I think my taste buds have matured maybe?
Well... my sister turned me on to chewing licorice root.
It's not exactly a food, but it's something you chew on! I didn't like it at first because it tastes somewhat like fennel, which is something I absolutely despise. But now I chew it all the time because it keeps me from biting my mouth and it tastes yummy (surprisingly).
Oh golly. When I was a kid I hated all sorts of things. Green beans, beef, turkey, etcetera. But I'm not picky now. I could could on one hand the things I wont eat I think. It's hard for me to think of foods I don't like.
mm sea food!!
I was practically vegetarian as a child... I used to hate steak, now I love it. Also, I used to hate olives and beets (we only ever had canned beets, so I thought they were colored and fake food... I was a weird kid) and love them now. And I hated coffee. I guess I don't know any kid that doesn't.
Mashed potatoes, salmon and eggs. These were my "overnight obsessions", most definitely.
OMG! you eat grilled cheese with ketchup too?! and i thought i was crazy
i guess it's good that you tried something new! some of us just stay in a rut and eat the same foods over and over again!
