  • Midtown Eats: STOUT NYC

When I first started writing my first few posts for IReallyLikeFood, I wrote a post called: Starting A Culinary and Food Adventureand it summarized my love for food and the favorite restaurants that I love to eat at.

STOUT NYC is an Irish Pub and Sports Bar located in the heart of Midtown. Nearby vicinities include: Madison Square Garden, Pennsylvania Station, Manhattan Mall, Macy's, and many other large department stores as well as restaurants. My sister works at Madison Square Garden and we were around the area one day, that's when she introduced STOUT NYC to me.

STOUT's atmosphere is classy and trendy, while the noise level is fair. The food served at STOUT is American, Italian, and good ole' comfort food! I love coming here to eat because it's comfortable and their food is quite tasty and always consistent! I've been coming here for two years and it has never let my expectations down.

If you've read my previous entry - My Strange Obsession with Fried Calamari, than you'd know I've got an extremely strange obsession with fried calamari. I'm not sure why, I just do and I'm always on a search for the "best" tasting calamari.

My boyfriend seems to have casted his vote for the "best" fried calamari already. Their fried calamari is well-seasoned and squirting the wedge of lemon juice around the fried calamari, really enhances the flavor of the fried calamari. The sauce that comes with it is: marinara and tartar sauce.

After you order your food, typically the waitress will bring out plates in case you want to share with whomever you're eating with and condiments for your burger or pizza.

I've seen many posts up on IReallyLikeFood about pizza. STOUT is one of my favorite places to come for good pizza. Their pizza is a Wisconsin thin crust pizza. According to one of the waitresses, their pizzas are sliced in square pieces and rectangular because in Wisconsin, that's how they do slice it.

At STOUT, you can get an individual pie or large pie. The price difference is that an individual pizza is: $8.95 and a large pizza is: $13.95. Toppings for a small pie is $1.00 each and for a large pie is $2.00 each.

Their toppings include: applewood smoked bacon, mushroom, fresh garlic pepporoni, roasted red peppers, sweet or hot sausage, buffalo chicken, and Italian red onions. I prefer applewood smoked bacon and mushroom for my toppings!

STOUT also offers a selection of juicy and delicious burgers. One of my favorites is the scallion and black bean turkey burger. I have never really been a fan of turkey nor have I ever had a turkey burger.

The quality of the burger is superb! It was nice to have a burger that wasn't a beef patty like I would typically get. The tomato and corn salsa went very well with the turkey burger.

In addition, you can order toppings your burger and it comes with a side of fries. I typically like to get my burgers from STOUT with portabello mushrooms and mozzarella cheese.

I love the Boyland's root beer that STOUT NYC has, but if they don't have it in stock - a fine glass of creme soda is a good substitution. They have a full bar of beverages, but I'm not a fan of alcohol and I don't always like to drink soda like coca-cola, sprite, orange soda and such. The creme soda tastes refreshing and lightly sweetened.

STOUT is one of those great places you can come to for good old American food and can also catch a great game on their televisions. The pub is luxurious, trendy, and classy. I love STOUT because their food is great, the setting is great, and everything about it is really superb!

What do you like about pubs? What do you like about American cuisine?
