Tips for Making Healthier Cocktails
Don't you hate how cocktails can be so good, yet so bad for you? According to the Washington Post, an Amaretto Sour can have up to 421 calories. Yikes. Luckily with a few changes, you can still enjoy cocktails and cut calories at the same time. Here's how:
Being a college student, I know it's easy and cheap for people to just grab a few bottles of sugary soda to serve as mixers. Instead, try some of these substitutes instead.
- Diet soda
- Light juices, such as cranberry or orange
- Light lemonade
- sugar-free margarita or sweet-n-sour mixes
- sugar-free syrups
Cooking Light also recommends using fruit whenever possible to add a little health kick.
Eating Well has a huge selection of healthy cocktails that are specifically for the summer but they look like they'd be great anytime of the year (you might have to resort to frozen fruits if they're not in season.)
Do you have any tips for making healthy cocktails?

Just about all the tips you listed just made them with more artificial junk in them. If you want to be more healthy just go natural. Mix your own sweet and sour mix with REAL lemons and limes. Use agave nectar. Just because something says "sugar free" on the label does not make it more healthy.
How many of these do you need before you stop caring if they're healthy or not?
Flavored seltzer + vodka or rum [+ fresh herbs or fresh fruit if you feelin fancy.] Easy, light on calories, generally inexpensive, and still have the ability to get you drunker than drunk if that's your goal.
It's all about experimenting with the drinks and finding the right combinations.
Wow, groundbreaking....
I'm a minor, I can't drink alcoholic drinks but I like mixing juices, like oranges and cranberries or strawberries and lemons.
Oh thanks! I love cocktails and couldn't care much whether it has healthy ingredients as long as they taste good, but if they are healthy, that makes them twice as good.
id rather have the unhealthy side. id like to indulge at least once
