  • Artichoke Basille's: A Little Slice of Heaven in NYC

New York City is filled with great pizza but my obsession Artichoke Basille's Pizza. This slice of pizza aka heaven was brought to my attention by my best friend Lauren. She explained to me that this pizza is unlike any other. The taste was just too delicious to form into words. However, to taste a slice of heaven you'll need to wait because line is always out the door. I'll be the first to admit that when I heard spinach and artichoke dip on top of pizza crust is supposedly delicious, I was not so convinced.

The night I had my first slice of Artichoke Basille's Pizza was on Halloween, and I stumbled upon it accidentally with my friends after a night of wondering around. Lauren was right. It was about 3 a.m. and the line was down the block.

After waiting for about 25 minutes or so, I got up to the small counter and ordered my slice. As I waited for it to heat up, I took in the surroundings...which weren't much. It consisted of a mini fridge filled with cans of soda, beer and water with an L-shaped counter. Being that the pizza shop is super small, there are no seats. I was required to find a stoop to sit on, but trust me once you see this pizza and smell the delicious aroma, you will sit anywhere just to have a bite.

I am not lying when I say it was love at first bite. This pizza is so rich and packed full of flavor. Its gooey and hot and bursting with artichoke-y goodness. After my experience with Artichoke Basille's Pizza I tell anyone and everyone to go there and try it. It is by far my favorite pizza place in New York City. If artichokes aren't your thing then try Artichoke Basille's Pizza other slices: Crab, Margherita, Sicilian and Meatball.

Artichoke Basille's Pizza has three locations in the East Village, Chelsea and Greenwich Village. Check out their website for a full menu of their other delicious food. If you haven't had Artichoke yet...GO TRY IT!

Do you know of any other unique pizza slices? What are your favorite pizza places?
