When The Moon Hits Your Eye Like A Big Pizza Pie
I love pizza. I don't think there's anything better than biting into a steaming hot, delicious triangle (or square), cheese oozing and crust crisp.
Unfortunately, some pizzerias take this perfect invention and botch it so that it tastes more like cardboard and less like Heaven.
That is why I have my favorite pizzerias and stick to them like glue.
Now, I must admit that I'm a bit of a pizza snob. When I hear someone in Brooklyn ordering Papa John's or Subway pizza (which is a freaking oxymoron, in my opinion), I get very annoyed. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Domino's and Pizza Hut. I don't think it's bad at all. I just don't consider it to be real pizza. It's for when you're coming out of a club at 3AM or are in a state other than New York.
To get even snobbier for a moment, my all-time favorite pizza ever ever ever is actually in Italy – Venice, to be exact. It was thin crust, with halved cherry tomatoes and chunks of who-knows-what kind of cheese thrown all throughout it. I cried when I ate it an ordered it every day. Unfortunately I didn't see it in Central or Southern Italy when I vacationed there in June. Pure devastation.
Anyway, here are three awesome pizzerias in New York, second best to Italia, that I visit on a regular basis.
My very favorite pizzeria is L&B Spumoni Gardens. It's famous in Brooklyn for it's unbelievable Sicilian slices. L&B is known for its pizza being crazy saucy, thick, with cheese underneath. I have yet to see another slice quite like it anywhere else. They also have great round slices but, with those squares there, the round is usually overlooked. Speaking of which, about a month ago my uncle ordered a "regular" slice and a "Sicilian" slice. The pizza guy stared at him like he had just spoken Japanese. "He wants a round and a square," I said, translating. You tend to learn the lingo if you're there every single day haha.

My second favorite pizzeria is called Di Fara's and it's located on Avenue J in Brooklyn. It made the Top 10 Best Pizza list several times, despite being a complete hole-in-the-wall dumpy little place. When I first walked in, I thought to myself, This can't be what everybody talks about. But my friend assured me that it was. Plus there was an insane line, which made it appear more promising.
When I took a bite of that cheese dripping off of the thin crispy crust, I thought I was going to pass out. I ordered a second slice (which cost five freaking bucks, by the way) immediately. Apparently in July 2009, Di Fara raised its price for a slice of pizza from $4 to $5 becoming the first $5-a-slice pizza place in New York City! Truthfully, I'd pay $10 a slice. Yeah, it's that good.

The third pizzeria I fell in love with is Napoli Pizzeria in Staten Island. They make specialty pies like Chicken Marsala pizza, Chicken Francese pizza, and Buffalo Chicken pizza. It is literally one of the greatest things I have ever eaten.
If you're in the mood for pizza, any of these pizzerias are golden!
Are you a pizza lover? Do you agree with my picks? What are your favorite restaurants?

I love Pizza especially with mushrooms, chicken, and applewood smoked bacon! I live not too far from L & B Spumoni Garden but sadly, never been there. My favorite restaurant that serves a special kind of pizza is called STOUT NYC, in Midtown. They serve delicious Wisconsin Thin Crust pizza!
Papa John's is probably my favorite, but I should point out that I live in Louisville, and I can remember when Papa John's was still just a local chain.
Now, if you ever make it to the Derby City, and you're wanting some local pizza, I would recommend Wick's, Bearno's, or Tony Boombozz.
mmmm so yummy! i love pizza, there's a small place called bogo pizza and they have a ton of different kinds of pizzas and it's my favorite.
I have my favorites, but you, know we need to go on a food safari sometimes. We should go off the well trodden doors of your favorite pizzarias.
My kind of pizza have to be pan pizza, I don't like those with thin crust which to me feels like cardboard... and it must have pepperoni, mushroom and lots of cheese.
By the way, pizza is called okonomiyaki in Japanese. Japanese pizza is very adventurous. There have this pizza called Squid Ink Pizza where in these pizzas (and pastas) the tomato sauce is replaced with a black-as-sin squid ink sauce. To be honest, squid ink sauce doesn't taste all that bad but tomato sauce is ten times better.I love Oishi! Pizza (a Japanese pizza), Pizza Hut but I love Papa John's too.
I once saw a pizza with fried crickets and worms as toppings. Ewww...
I love Domino's pizza. I love pizzas with extra cheese. I don't want mine to be too spicy. And no crickets on top please.
never been to these places though in Vegas there is a napolis pizzeria... wonder if they're related. otherwise the pizza i eat is typically pizza hut or papa johns. i dont care about authenticity, just yumminess!
I'm a pizza chef at an italian restaurant. Can we get married?
Topper's pizza is good. Also Delissio pepperoni. Don't get me craving girl. I have serious pizza jones! I also like panzerottis too.
Best pizza i've ever had was this little pizza place, and it was Perogie pizza. SO GOOD. OMG.

@Torn_Apart_Paper_Yoyo@xanga - Really !!! OMG. I'm going to have to go check that out, I've been looking for a place for my bday dinner.. Hmmm
I live in up in the mountains of Colorado, so not many choices up here. But... there is one place (minus the price) that is just amazing! Beau Jo's! Eat your heart out there, then tell me if New York style is still second to Italia. Nothing like a crust made from 'yo mammas' recipie bread and a warm cup of honey to dip the ends in. Mmmm :)
Too many places to name, but I always love homemade pizza by yours truly.
I love pizza and yeah, I agree with your picks!
Pizza hut. Yes.
Full Moon Pizzeria on Arthur Ave in the Bronx is THE BEST PIZZA I have EVER eaten...and I'm a New Yorker so that's saying something REALLY good...
