A Restaurant to Avoid

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a Vietnamese place that I've not been to before. The service was absolutely awful: honestly, it was laughable. It was a rainy week night in a small town so there were only a few other tables. There was one waitress who was also the hostess. She spent more time walking back and forth than I've seen anyone do in a restaurant before. Food sat on the counter from the kitchen for minutes on end before she picked it up and brought it to its rightful table. The soup I ordered wound up at a table near us. The man to whom it was served said, "I don't know what this is, but I'll eat it." The waitress thought nothing of it. There were three empty tables that still had dirty dishes on it from the time we arrived to the time we left. Seriously, if ever you are in Park City, UT do not go to Taste of Saigon.
Then, after ordering we waited a long time before our food was served (or, at least, what food made it to us). Our appetizers were served at the same time as our main courses. Eventually, she brought out the soup I ordered, but brought it out after we were already part way through the rest of our meal.
It was probably one of the worst service experiences I've had in my recent years.
What are some of the worst service experiences you've had at restaurants?

how is the food?
the price was probably cheap too. Can't expect any services in those restaurants.
@prettykay04@xanga - to be honest, it didn't really seem all that authentic. a lot of the menu options were more chinese than vietnamese. the pho was decent, but not worth the hassle.
There are websites for complaining about this very thing...seems silly that it's featured on xanga.
Your blog post just gave me an idea of my own because I like sharing restaurant reviews based upon my personal experience and I've had a few horrible restaurant experiences. One of my worse experiences was going to one courtesy of a restaurant.com coupon and I went with my boyfriend. I found a strand of hair in my dumpling and I took a picture of it too. I should have reported it to 311 but I didn't. They saw me taking pictures of my food and asked me to sample their "signature" dumplings which was detesting. I later on gave them bad ratings for their lack of cleanliness and bad food quality.
I feel food quality and service are two very important factors when eating at a restaurant or any food place, because those are the two things that's like a make it or break it deal.
Ugh. I'd stay away from that place.
How horrible. I hate places where dirty dishes are left on the tables.
I went to this Vietnamese restaurant with my mom once. They specialize in this one dish that I haven't had in a very long time. I really don't expect the service to be good, I just like the food. Well, I put my coat on the back of the chair and had my meal. Then I hear some container dropping to the floor behind me. No big deal, right? Except the two guys who were cleaning the table failed to apologize that what they dropped made squid sauce spill all over my jacket. I don't know if anyone has smelled that stuff but... Although it's great in certain dishes, it is NOT something you want to smell on your clothes! Quite disappointing.
There is this one japanese soup place near my house and my boyfriend and I were regulars there. The people that ran the shop were friendly enough although they did not speak that much language. The last time that I ordered for take out, I always make sure that I specify to them that I cannot have egg anywhere near my soup... for dietary reasons and health reasons. However, I paid my 15 dollars for my soup and appetizer, and on my way I went. Only to get home and realize that my soup was not the one I ordered, and had egg in it.
I am very picky about things being done right in restaurants because I feel as though if I'm paying to keep their business alive and am not eating out very often, that's what I deserve...
so my boyfriend called back and told them what had happened. The man actually had the nerve to say "Is your girlfriend there right now?. If she's not, then just take the egg out, and serve". When I heard this, my mouth almost dropped to the floor, and he is very lucky that I was not on the phone with them. Anyway, with that happening almost 4 months ago, I can't even look at japanese soup anymore, and I will never be taking myself, my friends or my family there to support them again.
Ever heard of an off night? Don't write off the entire restaurant because of one shitty server.
I really can't think of any bad experiences I've had with restaurants, but then again, I'm very lenient and patient as well.
I encountered similar experience in a Thai restaurant.. then again they didn't promise a 5 star treatment on anybody.
I won't go there.
Try slow service (lots of servers, few customers), coupled with RAW pork dumplings. I complained and got a refund though, and management was accomodating
I guess I've been lucky. I really haven't had any horrible dining experiences and I go out quite a bit to various places. However, I kind of have good taste in restaurant picks and read up on who gets good reviews... so I help myself out. I have had bad/mediocre food, but it's not the end of the world. That food mostly comes from the millions of family owned Italian places that kind of suck -_-
I don't like places where the waiter or waitresses are grumpy and don't smile or they mess up. Once Mummy and I went to this restaurant for breakfast. One waitress dropped a whole tray of food and then cry.
What a horrible service.
@the_rocking_of_socks@xanga - I once had a friend who said that she "tests" every new restaurant she goes to by ordering a common dish that she deems "the most simple to make"; she added that if they "can't even get that simple dish right, then you know not to go back there again". Rather snotty, or is that just me?
@Coffee_Kaioken@xanga - Very snotty. How does she know that there's not somebody brand-spanking-new working in the kitchen for the very first time? Or that maybe something was overlooked in expo and sent out by mistake. And what she might consider "simple" may be somewhat difficult for someone else.
One of their off days....the service could be improved if they try hard enough.
