  • Simple and Sweet Pleasures

I am a person that loves desserts, whatever form it may be. There are a lot of desserts out there, some of which I haven't tried, but would love too!

I feel that after almost every meal, it is nice to indulge on something sweet and soft once in a while.

I didn't always like to eat dessert when I'm out having dinner with family and friends, unless it was fruits. However, things have changed and I've decided to pursue the chance to try other desserts. Here are some of my personal favorites:

    frozen yogurt

Pinkberry and Red Mango are two of the main Frozen Yogurt shops in New York City. However, I do prefer Red Mango over Pinkberry.

There is almost an endless amount of toppings you can choose for your frozen yogurt, such as: strawberries, pineapple, mochi, blueberries, watermelon, mango, and a lot more.

They also have different flavors for frozen yogurts and smoothies. My favorite is tangomonium which is a mix of citrus and fresh fruit! It tastes quite tangy. Frozen yogurt is definitely refreshing and great to eat especially during the summer.

    red bean soup

Red bean soup is a popular Chinese dessert that is usually served after dinner at many Chinese restaurants. This is one of the main items I look forward to when eating dinner at a Chinese restaurant.

Red bean soup is one of my favorites because it's very creamy, sweet, and warm-filling. It's comfort food to me because it makes me feel warm inside after I sip on it and happy and that's what comfort food is suppose to do.

     gelato

Gelato is no different than ice cream. However, gelato is an Italian frozen dessert. Gelato has a higher sugar level content than ice cream which is why I only indulge on this once in a while.

I love ordering gelato from Italian cafe shops, because that's where the best gelato is and my favorite flavors are: tiramisu, hazelnut, banana, chocolate, and strawberry! However, too much gelato is probably not good.

    chocolate covered strawberries

I love chocolate. I love strawberries. I love chocolate covered strawberries. I don't care what kind of chocolate it is, because either way it tastes great! I always feel chocolate covered strawberries are very romantic especially when your giving it to someone you love.

As a matter of fact, chocolate covered strawberries are one of the first items my boyfriend gave me when we started dating. So I guess, to me that's why it's special. I really love dark chocolate and not only because it's healthy for you but also one of life's simple pleasures.

    dou fu fa

I'm actually craving this right now. Anyway, dou fu fa is a common Chinese dessert often served in many restaurants during dim sum hours. I don't see a lot of dou fu fa in New York Chinese restaurants, mostly in the restaurants I go to with my family in Toronto, Canada.

Dou fu fa is a tofu dessert that is usually served warm with some sweet syrup. Dou fu fa are also available at many stores that specialize in making soy milk, rice noodle rolls, tofu, grass jelly, and Chinese desserts. This is a feel good dessert because after every time I eat it, I feel good.

    strawberry ice cream

When I'm frustrated, sad, or just overly stressed out; somehow a few spoons of strawberry ice cream makes me feel better. I try to watch my weight at times even though I'm light weight.

Whenever I eat ice cream, I should feel guilty over eating something so fattening but, I don't care and I don't feel guilty at all. It's almost like a few spoons of ice cream wakes me up and inspires me. It's ironic how that works, but it does.

What are some of your favorite desserts? How do they make you feel when you eat them?
