I think I like Pork better than Beef. Especially in meatballs and meat sauces. In the past I would use a combination of the two. But lately, more often than not I use just pork.
The other night I made a sauce using just lean ground pork. This was a quick sauce, taking less than an hour to simmer. So very do able on a work night. And served over spaghetti. I used fresh tomatoes, but canned would have worked just as well. I also used both dried basil and fresh basil. The fresh gets added at the end, just before serving.

INGREDIENTS
- 1 pound lean ground pork
- 1 small onion chopped
- 2 to 3 garlic cloves
- 2 cups coarsely chopped tomatoes
- 1 cup of chicken broth
- Crushed Red Chili Flakes
- Dried basil
- Fresh rosemary
- Fresh basil
DIRECTIONS
- Brown ground pork in a little olive oil.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic.
- Saute until onions are tender.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, dried basil, Chili Flakes, rosemary and chicken broth. Season with salt and Pepper , cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
- Just before serving add the chopped basil. Serve over your favourite pasta shape.
What is your favorite type of pasta?

That's very interesting. I don't think I ever thought about using pork instead of beef. I will definitely keep it in mind next time around.
I never substitute beef with pork before. I tried some with a mutton as a substitude and it doesn't tastes good.
I'm sure pork will do just nicely with pasta. I like those with mussels and some nice marinara sauce.
Oh yumm.. this is a good alternative to beef.
this looks delicious!
