  • Arepas: La Reina Pepiada - Recipe

A few months ago I posted "How To Make Arepas", the food staple of most Venezuelan households. I hope most of you made wide use of that recipe.

Now I'd like to show you how to make my favorite filling style, La Reina Pepiada (The Peppered Queen?). This filling is full of flavor and is easy to make. The main ingredients are chicken and avocado, so you know it's going to be good.

    Ingredients:
    • 4 arepas
    • 3/4 cup shredded cooked chicken
    • 1 ripe avocado
    • 1 tablespoon minced onion
    • 1/2 chopped tomato
    • 3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise
    • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    Preparation:
    1. Peel and chop the avocado.

    2. Mix the chicken, avocado, onion, tomato, mayonnaise, cilantro and salt and pepper (to taste) in a bowl and mix with a fork.

    3. Fill each arepa with 1/4 of the filling.

And that's it. The beauty about this recipe and arepas in general is that you can eat them any time of day. I hope you enjoy this delicious recipe.

Will you be trying La Reina Pepiada
