Last Night's Dinner: A Series of FORTUNATE Events!
The series of events that led to last night's dinner could not have been any more amazing, let alone delicious. The dinner included: chicken apple sausage with Bucheron and Prosciutto SooFoo.
It all started when I realized I needed to get some minor grocery shopping done since I didn't really have much. I decided to go to Health Nuts, a grocery store near my apartment that I don't go to nearly enough.
As I walked in I was greeted with a free sample of SooFoo, which contains 9 different types of rice, grains, oats, etc. If you haven't had it, GET IT! Not only is it super delicious, but it is really healthy for you too! After trying the sample I had to buy the stuff, and it was on promotional sale for only $2.99!
After finishing up shopping there, I started to walk home thinking about what I should have with the SooFoo for dinner (by this point I knew at least this would be a part of my dinner). I then walked by Gourmet Garage, yet another grocery store near my apartment I don't go to nearly enough!
As soon as I walked into this store, I was greeted by a huge display of French Bucheron cheese, a type of chevre that has two layers, one typical of goat cheese and the other almost like a brie. Since goat cheese is my favorite, I had to check it out. And to my surprise it was on sale - usually $12.99 a pound, but on sale for $8.99 a pound! Still pretty pricey, but that's an awesome sale, so I took advantage of it.
I spent a lot of time just wandering around the store, checking everything out. I then remembered one time almost a year ago that I bought chicken apple sausage there. The sausage was perfectly juicy with the right amount of sweet. I found myself craving it, so I went to the meat area to see if they still sold it - and they did! I knew the main part of my dinner was complete.
Thanks to my wandering around, I also picked up some capers, marinated mushrooms, and prosciutto - all of which made it into my SooFoo dish along with the Bucheron.
I love unplanned dinners, especially when they come out this good. I will definitely need to make this entire meal again!!
What's your favorite dinner you randomly whipped up one night?
