I live in a neighborhood in Brooklyn called Flatbush, and while this neighborhood spans a lot of ground, my particular area is lacking in the coffee shop department. It is full of great Dominican, Jamaican, Haitian, Chinese spots to grub. Unfortunately, the only coffee around is Dunkin' Donuts, and although they do have good coffee, it doesn't really provide that coffee shop vibe I sometimes yearn. So what do I do when I want some good tea or espresso, enjoy a cupcake, and tap away at my laptop? Depending on the weather, I walk or take the subway two stops down to Cortelyou Rd. where it is blossoming into a really nice neighborhood full of restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops.
Qathra Cafe is a cute, casual, beautifully decorated coffee shop that has gotten a hold of my heart. The wooden bar, the delicious coffee and tea, the cool servers, and just overal great atmosphere, make this a great place to meet a friend, or just work. I've been here a few times already and have never been disappointed. Aside from coffee and tea, they serve lemonade, pastries, cupcakes, sandwiches and salads.

The best part of this shop is the outdoor area in the back. It is a moderately sized area that has a few tables and chairs and perfect for sunny days. I can't wait for the rain to go away so I can grab a book and take a seat out there enjoying an iced coffee.

:O I should go there!
Are the prices reasonable? :D
Pretty!
@xxSHhHxxBExxQUiETxx@xanga - yep as reasonable as any indie coffee shop
thats so cute! i might try it out one day. andd there really arent any cool coffeeshops where im at :( but i usually take the train into astoria bc i grew up around there, and there's quite a few there these days.
if anyone lives in milwaukee, i'm sure they'd agree with ALTERRA.
Hmm, I wonder if the owner is indian/paki. Qathra means drop in hindi/urdu (hence the obvious pictures around the store lol)
My favorite is Heine Brothers Coffee.
That place looks very cool. Too bad Brooklyn is so far away. My neighborhood is also lacking. We have Tanto Dulce Cafe, but it is very small and does not have wifi. It does have a nice atmosphere and good food/coffee. My dream is to open such a place. It would be the BEST.
