  • America's 10 Healthiest Fast Food Restaurants

Have you ever wondered of all the fast food joints, which ones are the healthiest? I know I have!

A panel examined America's hundred largest fast food chains and ranked the healthiest ones based on factors including: healthy fats and preparations, healthy sodium counts in entrées, availability of nutritional information, and the use of organic produce.

The real shocker is that McDonald's makes the list! That sure took me by surprise!

Health.com advises that just because these restaurants made the list, doesn't mean every item on their menu is healthy.

    1. Panera Bread (1,230 locations)

    2. Jason's Deli (206 locations): This is the first time I've heard of Jason's Deli, but apparently all their ingredients are organic and they offer portioned controlled options that are cheaper as well!

    3. Au Bon Pain (280 locations): Au Bon Pain provides on-site nutritional information via computer kiosks

    4. Noodles and Company (204 locations): This joint offers Asian, Mediterranean, or American

    5. Corner Bakery Cafe (111 locations)

    6. Chipotle (800+ locations): Chipotle's ingredients are organic and offer hormone- and antibiotic-free meats.

    7. Atlanta Bread (106 locations)

    8. McDonald's (14,000 locations): Now the million dollar questions: How did McDonald's make the cut? Turns out their fries are fried in canola oil and the small fries are only 230 Calories! Also, there are healthy options such as the apple dippers which go great with happy meals.

    9. Einstein Bros. Bagels (649 locations)

    10. Taco Del Mar (270 locations)

What do you think of the list? Any of these your favorites? Were you surprised to hear McDonald's made the list?
