April 24th: National Pigs in a Blanket Day!
Easter may fall on April 24th this year, but let's not let that overshadow what the 24th is really celebrating - National Pigs in a Blanket Day!
How can anyone resist these delicious little finger foods? Not only are they simple to put together, but they can be combined with lots of different dipping sauces and a variety of "blankets"!
My all time favorite is to roll cocktail wienies in Pillsbury crescent rolls with a strip of swiss cheese and dipping in a spicy brown mustard. But the possibilities really are endless, and I could go for any of them!
Blankets:
- crescent rolls
- pizza dough
- pretzel dough
- croissants
- puff pastry
Add-ins:
- any type of cheese
- any sliced meat
- pesto
- sauerkraut
- refried beans
- sliced onion
- roasted peppers
- bacon
- jalapenos
Dipping Sauces:
- ketchup
- mustard
- barbecue sauce
- cheese sauce
- marinara
- teriyaki
- sweet chili
- honey
- ranch
How do you like your pigs in a blanket?

I really need to stop reading posts on this blog. Every time I visit I leave hungrier than I arrived.
I love cocktail wienies in Pillsbury crescent rolls but with regular ungodly-yellow mustard instead of spicy brown.
Omg. I love pigs in a blanket! Now I'm craving them...

Lol, we had some pigs in a blanket yesterday for dinner! :) that is super cool! I prefer to have crescent rolls with bratwursts, and chili or ranch sauce for the dipping. Yummy!
Now I want these. We always have them in the pillsbury rolls without anything else. Never thought to add more meat or cheese.
Yay!!!! I want to make these, but my oven is slightly broken....=(
